Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort

The accommodations were not up to par

Shawnee Inn is very, very relaxing with a lot of activities. My sister and I just came to relax by the pool and lobby. The entire staff was soooo friendly. They all seemed to really enjoy their jobs and loved talking to the guests.

Shawnee Inn Stay: I brought my family to Shawnee Inn after Christmas for a time away to enjoy each other and two grandchildren. My wife and I have four children and two grandchildren. Unfortunately we lost our oldest son 6 months ago, and so we did this trip to spend time together and to forget the sadness of losing a child.We had a fantastic time at Shawnee. My wife and I love old hotels and have been to many of them. This is one. It is well over 100 years old and we are glad to see it still operating. Many of them have gone out of business because of very high maintenance costs. As a builder for over 40 years, I understand how hard it is to keep a complex like this operating, and how much it costs. And so I have an understanding that all things will not be perfect. If you are anticipating a five star hotel, then this is not the place for you. I don't think they strive to be that, and rightly so as it is not a stuffy pretentious place.It is a family oriented resort, mostly, and a golf oriented resort during the golf season. Although I have never golfed here, I hope to do so soon. All the staff I had interactions with were extremely friendly and helpful. Cara(sp?) did a fantastic job of giving us a comprehensive history tour of the inn and answering every question we had. Louis did a great job at the fire pit with s'mores for the grandchildren. The front desk people were always accommodating to what we needed. We stayed at both a cabin, the cedars, and a hotel room. They were clean and neat, everything worked fine. It was a bonus to have an actual fireplace in the cabin with provided firewood. The room in the inn was, yes, OLD as it should be . I have heard that thetty are fixing up rooms as they can, and I'm sure eventually they will get to all of them. They just remodeled the pool and hot tub and we enjoyed it immensely. SO come to the Shawnee Inn to enjoy a great historic hotel stay. Be realistic about where you are guong, and settle back and relax.It is worth the trip.

The staff was above and beyond. This might have been the most kind and helpful staff I’ve ever had in a hotel. I was shocked by how nice the staff was. My kids did archery in the snow, had smores on a big fire pit, swam everyday, skied at Shawnee mountain, snow tubed, had a great breakfast every morning, played indoor mini golf, played board games next to a fireplace, had a ton of hot cocoa. There is a brewery and tavern on the property! There was a movie every night for the kids. One negative is the walls are paper thin so you can hear everyone who’s in the room next door. The pros outweighed the cons tenfold. We will be back. I will plan a golf trip here with the guys.

The hotel is located in a beautiful area. The view of the mountains is incredible. The resort is very old and needs some TLC.

I didn't like the fact that the resort is old..... the pool area was opened and no tawels....
