Dream South Beach, by Hyatt

The hotel is actually 2 buildings, The Palmer and The Tudor, that can't be renamed due to regulation. They are built in the late 30s in the art deco style of So. beach. It is close to a lot of restaurants, beach, clubs and the free South Beach Trolley. The room was renovated and very clean, 2bottles of H2O are provided along with daily maid service. Cofee, tea and H2O, with orange slices can be had in the lobby of The Palmer side. The roof top pool on The Tudor side affords a nice view of Versace mansion on Ocean Ave. The beach can also be seen on the rooftop pool. Wonderful hotel to stay in. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

This hotel was the prefect location for many reasons! Great walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops. Will visit again!

I had been wanting to stay at Hyatt South Dream for about a year, so I was genuinely looking forward to this visit. As a Globalist who’s stayed at a range of high-end properties, I came in with strong expectations. Unfortunately, this stay left me underwhelmed. The best way I can describe the hotel is worn. It feels like a property that was once great in its prime but hasn’t been maintained to the same standard. My room felt lived in rather than refreshed. There was visible rust on the toilet paper holder and chipping on the bed frame — small details, but they matter, especially at this price point. The room itself was also quite tight, and the decor felt mid-tier rather than elevated or distinctive. It didn’t deliver the luxury experience I anticipated. As a Globalist, I also expected a better room experience overall. I was informed at check-in that the suite was unavailable upon arrival, but I was told they could move me the following night if I was interested. They mentioned they would call me once the suite was ready, but I never received a call. By the time I considered going downstairs to follow up, I decided to stay in my original room since I was leaving the next day anyway. It didn’t feel proactive or aligned with the level of service I’ve experienced at other properties. I was also surprised there was no mini fridge or mini bar in the room — amenities I would expect at this tier. Lastly, I was told at check-in that valet would be complimentary, yet I was billed over $100 for parking at checkout. That was particularly frustrating after already feeling disappointed by other aspects of the stay. Clear communication and follow-through are essential, and being charged for something I was explicitly told would be free left a poor final impression. Ironically, the highlight of the stay was Naked Taco.

The hospitality at Dream was wonderful. We were welcomed with such great service and will be back in March for Birthday. The front desk supervisor and staff went above and beyond at the time we were there. We are looking forward to returning.

This was a way over-priced hotel who took a credit imprint of over$550 in case we damaged or trashed the room. What an insult!. And to add insult to injury this came from the manager James. He definitely needs to go another management course as to how to deal with people. This seems the concept in America, completely distrusting of its customers and taking credit card imprint in case you "trash" the rooms. Really, they clearly need to review their hotel policy. In fact they took a further $260 hold on the card which caused my credit card company to think fraud was being committed on my credit card and issuing me with a new credit card. As I live in the UK and was visiting the US this caused problems and all the hotel could do was apologise but that is useless and is a practice that should be stopped. We will never ever visit Miami again and nothing will change our mind. This hotel charges resort tax and city tax on top of your stay and is very over-priced for what they offer which is just a room only basis. Nothing special at all. There was a salsa dance class on Friday afternoon but at once a week that was totally inadequate. This is a hotel just like Miami which has got way above itself and I would strongly avoid this hotel. The only saving grace was Juan Carlos, the Concierge at the hotel. He was excellent and the one saving grace for this hotel but the rest of our stay was over-priced, over taxed and our advice would be find some where else that is cheaper to stay, where everything that moves isn't taxed to the hilt and where your credit card is used as a something that can be over-charged when ever the hotel or their database system as they keep blaming feels like it. Simply tip, I'm afraid is avoid if you don't want to have to take out a second mortgage to pay your bill.
