Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden

Det här är den gamla sortens lyxhotell. Det märks genom möbler med intarsia, marmortvätt och stor garderob etc. Knut Agaton Wallenberg som inspirerats av hotellen på franska rivieran invigde hotellet 1893 tillsammans med sin hustru Alice. De krävde kvalitet i minsta detalj vilket märks än idag.

Hotellet er under renovering, så det er egentlig ikke fair at bedømme dets tilstand. Personalet var venligt, men det var irriterende, at personalet ved morgenmaden forsøgte at konversere. Det har man som hotelgæst ikke brug for. Desuden var det uklart, om “almindelige” gæster måtte bruge hotellets lille strand, eller om den var forbeholdt spa-gæster. I det hele taget var der ikke megen information om faciliteter - ud over morgenmadstiderne.

Hotellet är under omfattande renovering & är mer eller mindre en byggarbetsplats för tillfället vilket man bör vara medveten om. Hotellet stänger snart helt för gäster för att slutföra renoveringen, kanske borde detta redan gjorts? I övrigt fick vi ett oerhört fint bemötande av personalen som gjorde sitt yttersta för att skapa en fin vistelse för oss trots upprivna golv & byggdamm i princip varje hörn. Jag känner mig helt övertygad om att det kommer bli ett fantastiskt hotell när de öppnar igen & ser fram emot att återvända när det är nytt & fräscht.

Väldigt trevlig personal och fantastisk byggnad och läge. Maten i paviljongen fantastisk. En större renovering hade påbörjats så en hel del i korridorerna var halvfärdigt. Det andra rummet vi fick var bra, men det första hade varken ventilation eller AC. Hotellet stänger inom kort under några månader just för att göra klart renoveringen.

Dyr restaurant, som vi derfor ikke prøvede. Det samme med pool-området. Vi er vant til, at pooladgang er inkluderet i prisen. Ladestandere til elbil var ikke i drift. Øv Øv. Bygningen var præget af forestående renovering. Men fantastisk placering og udsigt. God morgenbuffet. Stedet har potentiale, når ombygning er færdig. Meget hjælpsomt og serviceminded personale.

Underbart hotel MEN fick ont i ryggen av sängen samt så var duschen knepig. Gick inte att stänga av takduschen.

Hotellet var under renovering och det kommer säkert att bli väldigt bra när det är klart. Vårt rum var gammalt och slitet, luktade unket och hade dessvärre mögel i taket.

We visited the hotel to go to the terrace bar and restaurant. On the first occasion we went for a glass of champagne and some canapés. Beautiful view and it was a gorgeous evening. The champagne came from a bottle that had been open for a while so it wasn’t that fizzy but we gave it the benefit of the doubt - these things happen. Today we went for lunch at the same terrace restaurant. Isn’t it annoying when the restaurant is pretty empty, you’re asked if you have a reservation (there were two of us) and the Head Waitress takes ages to work out where to sit you … but it is in a position away from the best view at the back? And the Head Waitress just says “you can see the sea”. And you just know that those tables aren’t booked and just aren’t going to fill up during your meal (hey presto, that is precisely what transpired). We ordered some crisps and a salad each. 45 minutes later we were still waiting for the crisps to arrive (turned out they’d been sent to the wrong table). When we queried with the waitress she apologised profusely for the delay and said they wouldn’t charge us for the food. We watched the kitchen prepare the crisps. The chef didn’t use gloves and he ate out of the same packet whilst preparing the bowl for us. Not very appetising that. He used his hands on the salad prep too and who knows whether he’d washed them after helping himself to the crisps. The food was pretty nondescript. Not bad but not memorable and pretty expensive for what it was. When the bill arrived they’d knocked 40% off which you might argue was fair … but wasn’t what the waitress had said. When we queried it she said the Head Waitress had determined we should have a discount not the whole meal for free. OK Head Waitress but if your colleague makes a commitment you should stick to it. Our recommendation if you’re in the area is to go the Var Gard instead or the Italian by the railway station.

Hotellet er under stor rehabilitering og vil nok være det en lang periode til. Fantastisk frokost Nydelig og fredfull plass Egner seg for hund og bading.
