"Disappointing slide to a once great place"

4.0

The alpenhof has been a favorite place for my family to stay for years. Although itโ€™s been 2 seasons since getting to stay here we were excited because of how great it had always been and the great value and service it provided. It used to have a great complimentary breakfast buffet with its rooms, warm cookies in the afternoons and a great alp style restaurant for lunch and dinner. It was also a cheaper option compared to adjacent lodging options. We come this year and it has been a severe disappointment. The staff was disengaged and all the former amenities that made the alpenhof a favorite has gone away. The price has gone up exponentially the last couple of years and they have gone down in service. I donโ€™t mind paying more for good service, quality rooms and accommodations but now it just seems like another big corporate hotel that used to have a cool identity. It has definitely lost its charm and identity which is sad because of how great it once was.

"Five day stay, 28 inches of fresh snow while here, dined extensively in Teton Village and town of Jackson"

Great location, old school alpine ski vibe. Cowboy Coffee on site is a great addition.

Location, Staff, and Cowboy Coffee

Hot water challenge one afternoon, and hot tub could have been hotter. Need to add a nicer ski/boot room.

The room was filthy- stained carpet. Took pictures of our view outside which was broken cables and garbage on the roof top. The window did not have a screen, yet the air conditioner blows right on your face in the bed. The bathrooms are outdated. Not only was our carpet dirty and stained, but the hotel carpet has not been updated, stained and worn. Would not recommend

The most charming and wonderful place to stay I can't wait to return and stay for at least a week.

This hotel was booked solid. I could not get another night like I wanted.

"A pleasant escape from the rat-race which is Highway 22."

8.0

This was a grand expenditure in the heart of Teton village. The food reminded me of the cuisine my Austrian aunt used to make back home. What a great place. Their portions are as big as your head and do not lack in flavor. The service is astute, I would liken it to the great service at the nearby Mangy Moose. Might I say this is in competition for best Teton village restaurant? The mangy moose is still top tier, but the alpenhof is worth your Benjamins if you have them.

"Lost its way. Slovenly and disappointing."

2.0

This restaurant has been a family favourite for 30+ years, with their fondue being the highlight. Unfortunately our dinner experience was so poor that we will not be returning. The Fondue wasโ€ฆ not a fondue. It tasted like it had been reconstituted from a freeze dried, long life army ration bag. What has happened? Our table remained uncleared to the end of the meal. We were one of 2 tables in the restaurant, so it was not a busy evening. Honestly, we couldnโ€™t be more disappointed. Not only was the food poor, but the hotel looks like it needs a huge investment to bring it back to life. With such a great location, youโ€™d expect it to be buzzing, yet it was so quiet, a rolling tumble weed would not have been out of place. I guess we did not get the memo that the once-lovely Alpenhof has lost its way.
