Royal West Indies Resort

Nice onsite restaurant/bar. Good food and very friendly staff at both the restaurant, hotel and bar. Our rooms were cozy and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The grounds are lush and well kept. We truly felt like we were in paradise. This is our new favorite vacation spot. We loved every minute of it!

The walk to shopping and dining was about 20 minutes, or a cab ride about $15. Internet was spotty but I didn’t mind since I didn’t want my phone to work anyway lol my only complaint was a screaming baby for 3 straight days in another room but nothing the resort could do about that. Otherwise, amazing property, quiet beautiful beach - just an amazing place to be.

The beach here is simply fantastic. The rooms were fully equipped, including washer & dryer, and even silverware, cups, plates, and other utensils. Wifi was good. They have free rental bikes during the day. The in-hotel restaurant & bar was fine. Strongly recommend renting a car if staying here as there are no stores nearby and to explore the island

Property is small but very nice. The on site returns is also nice but VERY expensive. Rooms were clean and updated plus room service is very good. Only minor complaint is that RWI is directly next to a public beach access parking lot. That means the beach around RWI is a lot more crowded than other part of the beach. Plus the Bar/ restaurant is next to the beach parking lot….which means a lot of the people in the restaurant and the pool are not staying at the resort. Otherwise we really enjoyed RWI and Grace Bay beach. We will return.

PROs: - Optimal location, Grace Bay - Food is decent and comparable to other restaurants. CONs: - Outdated and lackluster, expensive rooms. - Clear bias against Black customers. - Only one dining option I won’t be staying here again. Full review below. First we got room 712. It was very old and disappointing for almost $400/night. I wouldn't have paid more than $180/night for that room, but we chose to try to make the best of it. There was also construction going on right above us most of the day, starting as early as 9:30 am. After the third day of our stay we let the front desk know, and they switched us to room 312. It was the same price and the same type of room as the first but was renovated and had nicer furniture and decor. They should lower the pricing of the old rooms. It feels unfair to pay the same as the new, renovated room. As far as the bias experienced from staff, most were nice when they acknowledged us, but we were definitely ignored and not paid as much attention to as non-colored customers. Most instances that took place involved not being offered bar service on the beach while white customers around us were or not being checked on by the waiter or told specials at Pelican Bay Restaurant. Overall ignored. We've experienced similar things on other Caribbean islands, but definitely experienced it way more here. The last straw was being denied an umbrella to be placed by the beach attendants, which is part of their job and the amenities, on our last day.

Our fourth time staying here. The property could use a bit of an upkeep with regards to the units. Other than that the grounds are beautiful and people are very nice.
