Hotel PortoBay Santa Maria

Lovely indoor pool facility. Spa reception was not manned, so a bit confused about towels etc. reception explained take blue towels and robes from room, could be a bit clearer, but not a problem. Lovely massage and pool/jacuzzi. Great service throughout the hotel and reception staff particularly great. Great location to old town and fort. Bed/pillows, linen all lovely. Loved the hob and ability to self cater with cutlery and plates, pans etc

Sehr gute Lage an der Promenade, direkt an der Altstadt und dem Fort San Tiago gelegen, wo man auch im Meer baden kann. Das Hotel ist gepflegt, das Frühstück kann im Restaurant oder auf der Terrasse eingenommen werden und ist reichhaltig. Es gibt ein Gym, Sauna, großes Hallenbad, Whirlpool... Das Personal ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Dachterrasse konnten wir leider nicht nutzen (Unwetter), aber der Blick auf Hafen und Stadt schien sehr schön zu sein. Die Tiefgarage ist kostenpflichtig.

Hotel is right on the waterfront and public promenade. Located adjacent to Old Town Funchal with delicious restaurants and unique shops. Fabulous people and felt safe walking in the city. The hotel is very high quality with amazing staff, delicious buffets and nightly music. Would return to this place.

This hotel is well located both on the water front and also close to town. Ideal for evening walks after dinner from the many restaurants in the area. Parking is easy and not too expensive Breakfast is a huge buffet with lots of fruit as well as the usual choices. Bakery is average with the honourable exception of the Pastel del Nata. Large public areas Rooms have a "kitchenette" which here means a hob, sink, large fridge and plenty of plates and basic utensils. Not for baking a a cake but perfect to avoid going out to east all the time. Rooms have nice balconies

Rooms are not large and are showing their age such as in the bathroom.

Staff were, without exception, warm friendly and very helpful. The hotel is in a superb location and very well maintained. Room was also comfortable.

Both the dinner and breakfast buffets could have been better. The variety was good for both meals, but quality wasn't anything special. The hot dishes were generally only warm or even cold. Food in the bar was excellent.

Amplasamentul foarte bun, aproape de centru, de Marina. Piscina interioara si exterioara. Micul dejun foarte variat.

Camera foarte intunecata, terasa extrem de mica, in camera se aude zgomot din exterior, destul de deranjant la acest nivel. Sauna daca vrei sa o foslosesti trebuie plătit extra!!! Personalul de la receptie foarte rece si putin politicos. În voiajul nostru am schimbat 4 locatii , aici à fost cel mai scump si cel mai puțin prietenos.

Excellent location. Peaceful hotel. Comfortable and good sized bedroom.

Sometimes the food at the evening meal wasn't overly hot.

Bardzo dobre i urozmaicone śniadania, dziwił jednak brak lokalnych owoców jak marakuja, avocado a banany były tylko raz czy dwa

Dziwne dla mojej żony było te, że jej ulubiony koktajl Pornstar Martini był podawany bez świeżej marakui na wyspie, która jest rajem dla tego owocu.
