"Great Cottage with Hot Tub"

10.0

The Deer Harbor Worldmark is probably one of the best Worldmarks we've stayed at and we've stayed at many. The staff there are friendly and accommodating. The location by the harbor can't be beat and the individual hot tubs for each unit is what makes this property great. We stayed in a studio deluxe cottage and as a family of four, felt there was enough space. We ate many meals outside on the patio and spent a lot of time in the hot tub. The bathroom is spacious and the large walk-in shower was nice. Some things to be aware of... the bar sized fridges in the kitchenettes don't have a true freezer so if you purchase anything that needs to be frozen, it has to be kept in the staff fridge in the main office. This fills up quickly so don't count on bringing too many frozen groceries if you're in a similar unit. As well, the light comes in through the transom windows so it can be quite bright quite early in the morning. There is a free laundry room with two washers and two dryers. The machines itself are fairly new and the laundry room is open 24 hours. We brought our own SUP which we left on the patio and carried down easily to the beach below the cottage. Our kids loved paddleboarding right off the beach and had a seal swim right by them. Overall, this is a new favourite Worldmark and we will be back!

"Quiet Cabin across from the harbor"

10.0

My boyfriend & I stayed here for a weekend and had the best time...probably because we had our own hot tub on the porch. All the cabins do and it makes this place that much better. They also are right across from the harbor and have great views and you can rent kayaks when the weather is nice. They also have a game room, with pool, chess, a nice lounge area and workout room. The front desk was very helpful as well.

"Birthday get-a-way"

8.0

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. The little cottage was just what we needed to escape life and get caught up on each others bust schedules. We visited town, went out to eat and visit with new faces. The staff and check-in was great. Answered any questions that we had. Made some excellent suggestions. The private hot tub was so nice too.

It was our anniversary and we received a card signed by the staff and a gift. Great surprise and great service. The cottage was ready ready early and very comfortable. I will definitely return. Very nice resort.

"Nice but out of the way"

8.0

First thing to know if you are going anywhere on Orcas is to get your ferry reservations early. Ticket sales online are sold 1/3 2 months before the date, 1/3 2 weeks before, and 2 days before. Sales start at 7:00am and although my wife and I both jumped on the site at exactly 7:00am, we couldn't get the time we wanted. We ended up staying the night before in Anacortes and then taking the 6:00am ferry next day. Orcas is not a big island, but Deer Harbor is on the "far side" so that it is necessary to drive into Eastsound for food, restaurants etc. and then drive further to get to Moran Park and much else. The Deer Harbor Inn is close to the resort and is very good for dinner. There is also a pizza parlor next to the property. The tiny store in the Deer Harbor marina sells mostly drinks. The ice cream is wonderful, but you can buy a whole half gallon of the same Lopez ice cream in town for the price of a cone at the marina. The cabin at WorldMark had a small kitchen with a small refrigerator. We ended up shopping at the wonderful Island Market in Eastsound every other day. There is no reason to bring a lot of food with you. The fresh vegetables, fruit and meat sections at the market were great. The pool was too small for lap swimming, but wonderful for kids. We enjoyed the DVD library which had several good titles. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Don't bother with the Farmer's Market on Saturday. Prices were very high and the quality wasn't that good. Much better to buy at the Island Market. We highly recommend Moran State Park. Swimming in Cascade Lake was terrific and we enjoyed the many hiking trails. We also enjoyed renting kayaks just outside Eastsound on the road to Moran State Park. The concert and history presentation at the Moran mansion was definitely worthwhile. Dinner at the mansion was disappointing although, in fairness, they had just lost their chef and one of the stoves broke on the night we were there. Our favorite restaurants in Eastsound were Madrona and Island skillet.

Great trip. Units overlook the harbor and small marina. Units are nice and clean. Resturants and other activities are nearby. You'll wnat to take the ferry and bring your car to get around. Lots of little shops and other atractions.

"Beautiful Setting; a very few improvements still needed"

8.0

My wife and I went for a 2-nighter just before Christmas to celebrate with our in-laws. First time ever at this property, although we'd stayed at the Inn At Deer Harbor just up the road before, so we are familiar with the area. Property has just been gone through a re-painting of exteriors, and is scheduled for its every-5-years refreshing of the interiors very soon. Very nicely appointed cabins, and everything worked. You have to pay for the wi-fi (unless you're a certain level Worldmark owner), and your cell phones are unable to receive reliable coverage (regardless of carrier -- 'cuz the nearest tower is on the other side of a nearby hill) -- but the Front Desk said they would make calls for you and connect them to your room if you request such. Very helpful staff, and very easy check-in/check-out rules. Views from 80-85% of the cabins -- a few have blockages due to trees, but all are very nice. Biggest noise pollution comes only from the occasional "brrraaaap" of the maintenance cart in the mornings. Nice place to just go and "unplug"!!!

"Great get away"

10.0

Staff very helpful. The cottage was very clean and the one we stayed in had a great view of the harbor. The Deer Harbor Charters just down the hill, family owned,(short walk from the resort) excellent for whale watching! They also give a 10% discount for staying at Worldmark. Beautiful area.

"Quiet Solitude "

8.0

I really like to vacation here. 2nd visit and reserved the third. This is a vacation within yourself and partner. Plan on reading, movies and solitude. There is not a lot to do here and not a lot of kids. Hot tub on the deck and fire place are the main forms of entertainment. Whale watching is the main activity. Love it here and leave feeling better. Peak season is mid June to Labor Day. Handicapped access is on the Hillside Suites. Enjoy
