Fairfield Inn & Suites Wheeling - St. Clairsville, OH

Good location. Spacious, comfortable room. Fairly quiet. Close to stores and restaurants.

Wi-Fi finally repaired on my last day of stay. Even though I had a suite, there wasn’t a sink, kitchenware or dishwasher. Candle wood Suites and Residence Inn nearby do have those features.

Large room with closet and drawers for unpacking my clothes. Good sized bathroom with a good shower. Staff was friendly and helpful.

WiFi was not available for my stay, undergoing repairs. Not a fatal flaw but I needed a workaround for my iPad. Hot water in urn in breakfast area was not hot enough. I had to use coffee maker in room to get water hot enough to make my own coffee (brought my own instant packets of high quality coffee)

The bed was very uncomfortable. But other than that we loved the amenities and services.

The “indoor pool” that is advertised, which is a big reason for staying at this property, is NOT heated. It was freezing. When asking the staff, we were told the pool is not heated. I have never been to a hotel with an indoor pool that isn’t heated. In addition, the TV didn’t work. T turns on, and gets 3 local channels. The streaming services also didn’t work. I reserved the room Friday through Sunday. I checked out on Saturday and was told I couldn’t get a refund for any portion. I booked another room at the Wingate by Wyndham right up the street and it was amazing. Heated pool, hot tub, working TV, and a similar price.

The employees are friendly. My room was comfortable, although the window was taped. The internet did not work, so we had to use our mobile hot spot and could not watch anything on TV. The kids did not like the cold pool.

Hotel was clean but not updated. Not happy I had to pay to park in a parking lot. Not like it was a parking deck. I still got wet from walking in rain.

The staff here are always nice and accommodating. Fitness center is accessible 24/7 and the pool is a decent size for a hotel.

Pool was ice cold. why have it if you can't stand plunging in ice water? Breakfast was a little skimpy

We were moving some household items from near Philadelphia, PA to Rochester, Minnesota. After a midday start on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 we made it here for the night. This hotel is in Ohio right on the border with West Virginia. I booked the hotel online, so wasn't aware that construction was going on right at the hotel desk. The ceiling was ripped out, plastic covered to floor and over the hotel desk. The desk clerk had to lift the plastic to see the computer, and had to go to another room to print out the paperwork. Despite this she was very pleasant and helpful. She told me that they had frozen pipes in the ceiling so it was torn out for repair. The construction workers were there and had the ceiling back in place by 8PM. I read some previous reviews about problems, pipe leaks and wet carpeting. For myself, as an energy and building analyst professional, I assume this hotel was built cheaply and not energy efficient to have such problems. Not the fault of the staff however, they were very nice. That same desk clerk young lady came to our room promptly to help get a laptop computer signed in to their wifi. That is above and beyond good service. The room was very comfortable and quiet all night. The free breakfast was not elaborate but quite good, only that they soon ran out of coffee, I had to tell the (different) person at the desk to get it refilled. There was no $12 charge for parking as stated on the reservation and also what others have said in their reviews. Overall, a good experience.
