JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa

Everything was incredibly clean and beautifully maintained. We enjoyed the fitness center every morning, the lobby bar and the tavern and everything was wonderful! We plan to visit again with our family soon!

Beware if you are not going here w/ children--the adult experience is odd. Nice property and staff--but the customer experience of getting nickel and dimed is awful. In order to use the adult pool, you must pay an additional $55 just for one chair! it's more if you want umbrella etc., despite paying a resort fee? this type of fee structure is such a bad customer experience on vacation. They need to change this policy as it negatively impacts people who travel without children.

The property itself meets the expectations of a JW property unfortunately the staff was largely unpleasant and unhelpful. The room itself was comfortable and tastefully decorated. The common areas were nice but required long walks to access. The pool area is very large but a large percentage of the seating is dedicated to paid reserved seating. I engaged with a couple of the managers (Samantha and I can’t remember the other name) regarding an issue and they misrepresented information and then failed to follow through on what they promised, They were petty and unhelpful and when I caught them in misleading information they didn’t apologize instead continued to make false excuses. The valet staff and the housekeeper who cleaned my room were clear exceptions to what I described above. They were always pleasant and helpful. For the price of this property there are far better choices including the Biltmore where I previously stayed.

It pains me to write this review about the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge as we stay here 3x to 4x a year to get away from the cold and clouds of the Pacific NW but what was once a premier property, has turned into a land based hotel version of the Carnival Cruise Lines. As a high end property, this report has everything. Great gym, clean comfortable rooms, water slides, great restaurants and a lazy river. But, over the last few years they have opened the resort up to locals via a day passes and the clientele has changed. The peaceful and respectful guests now include Carnival Cruise line guests that normally would never be able to afford this beautiful property. Now during hot Arizona days you will see intoxicated people falling over each other, the strong stench of marijuana and fights, as a daily occurrence.
