The Sunshine Hotel and Suites

This is my second stay at Sunshine Suites, in Cayman as a solo traveler for diving. The location is truly perfect. A short walk to many different types of restaurants, very safe, and having access to the Westin across the street is such a great perk and convenience. Hotel is clean and while rooms are a little dated, they are in the process of renovating the entire hotel. Restaurant on site has very good food, friendly and attentive people all around. This place is a gem and I will be back

: --- **"Worst Experience Ever – Avoid Sunshine Sweet Resort and Grand Cayman"** This was, without a doubt, the **worst travel experience I’ve ever had**. First off, Grand Cayman is not 'grand'—it’s small, desolate, and a complete letdown. I paid **$265 for one night** at Sunshine Sweet Resort, and it was a waste of money from the moment we arrived. We got there late, only to find that **both the pool and restaurant were closed by 9 PM**, leaving us completely stranded and hungry. There are no nearby restaurants or services. We were in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fancy, empty buildings, but no people. It felt like a ghost town for the wealthy, with no basic services. If you arrive at night, you're out of luck—no food, no help, nothing. Desperate for something to eat, we had to **walk through private properties** of other resorts, and without even realizing it, we ended up at the **Ritz-Carlton**. It was confusing and uncomfortable to be wandering through private, gated areas just trying to find something open. There were no signs, no guidance, and we felt lost and out of place. The **beach access was difficult to find**, and honestly, not worth the effort. The rooms were freezing cold, making it uncomfortable and nearly causing me to get sick. **As soon as you step outside, your glasses fog up**. I almost came down with a fever. The staff was friendly but completely ineffective. They offered nothing more than a **$31 taxi ride to the airport**, with no real solutions to the issues we faced. To make matters worse, there was **no way to contact the front desk** for help. Even our **taxi driver**, who lives on the island, was shocked by the lack of information and the complete disorganization of the resort. He couldn’t believe how little help was available and was just as confused as we were. The whole place felt abandoned rather than peaceful.

Been here nine times, clean, convenient to many restaurants ( of course we don’t mind walking 20 minutes) and the Westin is in the process of updating all rooms. Good restaurant on site fish tacos and hamburgers. The property is a motel and not a hotel but you have access to all Westin amenities. The beach is less than a 10 minutes walk. You must cross a street but there is a cross walk light and drivers stop before you even press the button. In the strip mall they’re next to Sunshine, Eats, Legends and Yoshi. Legends best happy hour on the island. Drinks very reasonable priced. Yoshi excellent sushi with happy hours and during busy season and weekends should make reservations. Go to webcam to see 7 mile beach, water: warm, calm, clear.

I have always stayed at Sunshine This time was not a good experience I was given a room that was already occupied Them my new room had a problem with shower they came and got it working but then there was no hot water But the worst of all was no sleep due to baby crying all night long Of course this was out of staffs control I decided to check out a day early Sunshine suites staff were the best and helped me out in any way they could I will continue to stay here in future because of their staff alone

Terrible property overall. The rooms smell very bad, can back and everything went straight to the wash with a terrible mold odor. There is zero communication between the staff, I had asked for late check out and reassured me that’s fine gladly I double checked the day before and they were clueless. I ordered a taxi went to the reception 20min later as no one contacted me to cause they told me the wait was 15min only to tell me that she didn’t know who the taxi was for so she canceled it. My first room was right next to their grill/bar which resulted in loud music till 11pm so had to switch rooms!! I was also in need for feminine products which they didn’t have and had to ask the staff for them. I’ll give it to them they honored an early check in and check out. You can use the Westin facilities but be mindful is super expensive I paid $10 USD for a cold brew!!

If you are looking for a great place to sleep while saving money then look no further. This place was absolutely perfect! Amazing staff, good room, Westin amenities, shops nearby, everything you need. Not to mention the beach at Westin is unbelievable.
