Hotel Place d'Armes

We had a "junior suite" with a king bed and we've never had such a luxurious room! The high ceilings and brick walls gave it charm, and it was spacious, with a table & four chairs, a sofa, various small tables, and a bathroom that was gorgeous. The restaurant was pretty as well. We felt very well cared for at the Place d'Armes!

This was our first trip to Montreal, a special anniversary trip and we wanted to stay in the Old Montreal area. Since our first choice of hotel was booked on our first night in town, we were directed to the Hotel Place d'Armes for one night. This is a really nice, albeit very large (4 buildings all in one block) that is run efficiently. Our room was very comfortable with limited windows on the front side of the hotel. Since it was a Saturday night, we didn't hear construction noise from the high-rise building going up across the street. (We did notice a lot of daytime noise during the week as we walked in the area.) We were told the hotel was having two weddings on that night, one of which was right below us (we were on the 4th floor) but the steady beat of dance music was not an issue, it was almost soothing as we fell asleep. In the morning, the street floor of our building was littered with debris from the party the night before, including nasty plugged toilets near the front desk. The front desk held our luggage until we could move to the other hotel and even drove us to that hotel with our luggage which was nice. Pros: - Nice and helpful staff, luxury accommodations - Comfortable bed and very nice bathroom with serious (in a nice way) water pressure in the shower. - Brasserie 701 on the corner of the hotel was really nice for brunch or an afternoon glass of wine/snack. - Location is adjacent to Place d'Armes which is a nice spot to sit and enjoy the sunshine with a coffee Cons: - You may be sharing the hotel with big events - You may have street noise from the front or back of the hotel early AM or late PM

I often travel to Montreal for work, and the Place d’Armes is my go-to hotel. It’s a beautiful and elegant place to stay. While I’m working, my husband enjoys relaxing in the lounge or exploring the city center. There are plenty of great dining options nearby as well.

The concierge and front desk agents are so kind. They really made our stay memorable and comfortable. We loved the hotel, especially our room with the brick wall

We loved our stay at Hotel Place d’Armes! The staff were amazing and paid great attention to detail. The building is one of the most beautiful in Old Montreal. We’ll definitely be returning!

We stopped by late morning to acknowledge that it wasn't check in time yet, but could we leave luggage there. The employee probably didn't realize that she gave us an irritated look, but she. Came back at check in time and was told that the room was not ready. We sat it the lobby for at least an hour, while other people checked into their rooms, with no explanation. Finally the concierge asked what the issue was and we said we had been waiting - he found out that our proposed room didn't have power, but did get us to a room. When we got into the room, there were candies and a note addressed to someone else. We had a reservation for dinner and they sat us in the sun so we asked for something shady and finally got that. Then later, we were in the room with a do not disturb tag on the door and the maid just tried to barge in, but the chain prevented her from getting all the way in. This hotel is too pricey to offer such mediocre service.

Our hotel was superb. Staff was perfect always ready to help and very professional . Our room was well appointed with nice amenities.

I stayed here with a friend, and I have to say that it was very disappointing. The exterior building is beautiful but the inside especially the rooms need a major overhaul. The room we stayed had outdated and used furniture, the mattress felt like it was so old and used it sank in the middle..! The room was dusty and in need of a redesign. The bathroom had premium fittings but the shower was disappointing as the water pressure was low and the shower head was clogged up with calcium buildup. Overall for the price I would never stay here again.

We loved our Junior Suite at this charming hotel. Immaculate, well-appointed, and more room than we expected. We requested a high floor to minimize construction noise. All the staff were welcoming and indulged my high school-level French! Rainspa offered wonderful massages- Cindy was spectacular! Don’t miss sushi at Kyo- one of the best meals we had in Montreal.
