Glasgow Westerwood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. However, there are a few areas where improvements could be made. The kettle setup feels cramped, as it is placed on a shallow shelf, and the mugs are quite bulky and not in keeping with the hotel’s price point. While most areas were very clean, I did find a long dark hair in the shower. It was also lovely to have the option of swimming before breakfast, but the pool appears a little tired, with several missing tiles and what looked like a visible tide mark that could be cleaner. I also understand that when I stayed it was unusually hot for Scotland however only being able to open the window a crack meant the room was very hot (with no fan or air conditioning)

Very large. The food was absolutely dreadful. I had to send my starter at dinner back as it was totally inedible. The staff were not at all helpful or welcoming

Having stayed at many of the QHotels and enjoying their locations, friendly efficient staff and overall ambience we were looking forward to our two days break at the Westerwood. However, although the staff were as friendly and as helpful as ever the overall experience was not as good. We value the tranquillity of these locations, not usually difficult on a golf course; but here there was the constant noise of traffic. Not the hotel's fault I grant you; but it is in close proximity to the main Glasgow to Edinburgh road. During the night the traffic noise was incessant. Also, even though we were in an upgraded room; this hotel does not have air con, meaning there was no other option than to open windows and hence be disturbed by the traffic. Not good QHotels - sort it out please.
