Residence Inn Frederick

This Residence Inn has all the things we need whilst on vacation. Good sized rooms, good parking, decent kitchen, lots of areas to sit and chat. Decent exercise room (needs to be larger and more equipment) , indoor pool and a good breakfast (but not great like the one in Cambridge MA). We received a great upgrade to a larger suite, easy elevator access. The staff really stand out - so kind and helpful and pleasant. Finally a good well connected to roads and highways location with a good set of stores and services within walking distance.

Great area and location

Got charged for internet usage even though I’m a Bonvoy member and I selected the “free” internet option. I called the hotel and was told I needed to speak to the manager, who would call me back. Never heard from them. I have stayed at a lot of Marriotts and never had this issue before. The hotel was clean, the breakfast was goo, and he staff was nice, but won’t stay again due to being scammed for internet fees.

This is a dated property -- a few frayed holes in the carpet, bathrooms too small. But we figured as much going in -- hadn't stayed at this hotel, but we had stayed at the Fairfield next door. We were trying to get a fairly large room for which we could use our 4 pm Titanium late checkout, and accomplished what we wanted to, The breakfast is a step below what I would expect from a Residence Inn. they don't have the eggs/breakfast meat/potatoes American breakfast, much less wafflemakers. Instead, they had overcooked Sam's Club breakfast "omelets" (premade egg patties with cheese in the middle, like you get at many Holiday Inn Express properties) and very dry sausage biscuit sandwiches. I understand that the Residence Inn brand standards permit this now, but that's something both Marriott and this property should reconsider, We had no problems with the wifi, and the temperature controls worked well. Our room had one positive upward deviation from the brand standard -- they have the Starbucks/single cup machines like you often see at Westins rather than the awful Hamilton Beach 8 cup machines that predominate at Residence Inns. The area is a little less walkable than it might seem from the maps in that there are very few sidewalks in the office park this hotel is set in. Still, I think you can reasonably expect to be able to walk to Westview Promenade, which has restaurants and a movie theater.

This was the 2nd or 3rd time we've stayed here while travelling between the northeast and SC over the past 20 years. As in the past we found the facility clean and comfortable, and we had a pleasant stay. As is almost always the case, when you find a well run inn, you find happy, friendly staff. This has always been the case here too. Everyone has a great hospitality mindset. On this visit we had two very minor issues; 1. Our room (411) is situated with windows overlooking a sort of alley, created by the position of three parts of the building. In this area, which is a lawn, sits several HVAC units. When they run, the noise echos around in the alley. The windows of 411 and probably 311, 211 and maybe the X13 rooms look up to this space, and when the units are running it can be quite audible in the rooms, and 2. This inn, like so many others (and like many restaurants too) assumes that if you want decaf coffee, then you must want a very light roast. It's not true. I drink decaf and I want bold coffee. The decaf available here was weak and terrible. But still, overall, I would (and likely will) still stay there again. However, I'll ask for a room away from the outdoor HVAC units.

Super Clean and extra roomy since we were upgraded to a wonderful suite on the 4th floor. Staff was cheerful. Hotel was very quiet. Dogs are allowed so that was a nice bonus! But wow, the stay ended on a sour note. Positive: clean, most comfortable bed ever, great water pressure, quiet, free breakfast, outdoor lounge area Negative: super loud toilet, no dairy free options at breakfast, wow they love cheddar cheese on the egg sandwiches! Smokers in the outside lounge-sure wish it was like free! Biggest negative: a middle of the night 2 hour fire drill on the 4th floor! Alarms kept going on and off. Called front desk. Not too concerned. So weird. Fire trucks ended up coming and we never had to evacuate. But no one filled us in. Front desk didn’t even know about it when we leaving. Not impressed and I can’t say I feel very safe. Bummer of an ending to what had been a nice stay.

Great service from check-in to check-out!!! We booked a two bedroom and they were booked so they gave us the Presidential Suite!

Everything was great with the exception of breakfast. Way below the standard of a Holiday Express. Hot tub was great as was the pool.
