Cat ba Paradise Hotel

Mouldy bedsheets and pillow cover. No housekeeping after hours - the night porter had to change sheets. The construction is happening in front and not a nice view to see. Can be noisy sometimes. The receptionist told us to wait for 5 minutes to check minibar but never got back to us so waited longer until I asked.

Very nice hotel, rooms are clean and well kept. Good location with a sky bar and a great view of the sunset. Hotel staff were excellent especially Elvis, what a guy, can make any cocktail under the sun and also a top coffee after breakfast, very knowledgeable of the aera and was happy to help with any questions we asked. Seeing him each time we came back to hotel with a smile on his face and asked about our day, he made our stay that much better . Highly recommended this hotel

On our final evening in Cat Ba, we wanted to find a high vantage point to watch the sunset. By chance, we discovered the Cat Ba Paradise Hotel and Sky Bar. Did it offer a great spot to witness a breathtaking sunset and enjoy a delicious meal with friendly staff? Absolutely. Cat Ba is currently rebuilding after Typhoon Yagi, and there is significant development happening around the harbor. As a result, the views from the Sky Bar are not quite what they once were. However, capturing the stunning sunset is still well worth it. Thank you, Cat Ba Paradise Hotel, for a wonderful evening.

A ginormous bed - lovely sea views excellent service and very friendly staff. The sky bar with the pool and gym have great views and a special mention to Mr Ben who was always on call when we needed happy hour cocktails! Would definitely recommend/return

Never have I ever had such a bad experience. The rooms are not being cleaned after guests leave. There is construction work going on, so don’t even think that the view will be a silver lining. There was a human toenail next to a bed in a room they told me to go to when I refused to stay in the first one they offered me that had weird stains on the headboard. And that was just the tip of the iceberg - sticky floor with muddy traces, moulded shower head, lack of basic equipment such as soap… I could go on. The staff is completely unprofessional, abrasive, and incompetent. It’s a shabby hotel and the 4 stars they claim to have are a joke. Whenever something happens, they don’t try to resolve the issue but play for time so that you don’t request a refund. Their breakfasts are lacklustre, it was the first time I ate a fruit that had literally no taste. If you try and contact the manager (telephone number: +84 96 531 79 92) he will ignore you.

We didn’t stay in the hotel but did use the sky bar several times during our visit. I also ate a burger here, which was nice. The cocktails however were outstanding and the bar staff were very friendly. The bar is around the pool, which I must say looked a bit murky. We weren’t there to swim but it didn’t look inviting.

We arrived in Cat Ba to find our hotel not accessible due to typhoon repairs, in spite of checking with them. So with our suitcases we had to get a new place. This was supposed to be the nicest, but in reality it’s just the most expensive. The room was extremely basic and not in the best shape. The only soap in the bathroom was the shower gel. The shower was barely spraying and we told them, but no one fixed it. Breakfast was very low quality. Mediocre coffee in a carafe was not even hot. The pho’ was so bad we didn’t eat it. On the second day, some of the steam trays were empty so there were even fewer choices. Staff were overall indifferent and not friendly.

We came here to enjoy a swim and watch the sunset. It was fairly busy when we arrived, it also smelt quite bad around the pool area. The chilled out vibe we were looking for was not happening with one family and their hyper screeching children, I'm fine with them having a good time but some awareness of other people would have been appreciated. We ordered drinks on arrival, the service was sooo slow, and at a high mark up. The mocktail was only 20k cheaper than alcoholic drinks and was nothing special. The beers took even longer to arrive, and I gave up on my glass of white wine it was the slow. That being said the bar does have an incredible view for sunset, but then so does the promenade across the road for free

The hotel wasn't even that bad. Nice position and average room even though a little bit expensive for it's quality. The problem is the guy at the travel desk, they clearly scam western tourists. They booked us a group boat tour and they made us pay 450k dong/pp (the average price was 150k/pp), they offered us a private boat tour for 110$ for 4 hours!!! (36$/pp it's crazy that the more you are the more you pay for a private boat) The next day they organised us another group boat tour at ha long bay for 4,5 million dongs (15 km taxi+ferry+boat and bus), they also booked us a taxi from the ferry port to the cruise port (THE DISTANCE WAS 500 METERS!!!) and obviously they didn't mention the distance. On top of that they didn't book the cruise in advance so we had to wait 2 hours in the port waiting for another boat... They should fire that guy it's unbelievable that they double the normal price even though you already pay for the hotel.

Went with my girlfriend so we could watch the sunset and have a few drinks views are the best in car ba will give them that! However food we had was below par and not nice at all, spring rolls still soggy and undercooked, chicken spring rolls may as well have been normal as no chicken at all in them. As for mains food was bland and tasteless chicken, chips come out cold as well! As for service took 2 hours for starters and mains to come, brought 1 knife and fork set with mains asked for another took 5 minutes and still didn’t bring so we had to go up and ask again, asked for a glass for my girlfriends beer 3 times and didn’t receive so just gave up in the end. Would recommend for views but definitely not for the food
