Hotel Valencia Riverwalk

Property was beautiful, just far enough away from all the loudness of the Riverwalk restaurants. Perfect.

Honestly, the hair dryers were broken and sticky.

The location was simply fantastic, the esthetics so beautiful, the rooms comfortable and immaculate, and the staff very helpful and friendly! It's an easy, short walk to the Riverwalk hot spots, but Dorrego on the 2nd floor was great. Ask Steel to make you an "on the spot" drink and definitely try the pear & ricotta tort - you won't be disappointed with either.

Location was great! Walkable to everything we wanted to do. The room was very clean, comfortable, and the bed slept well.

Excellent downtown location, you couldn't be more into the middle of things than that. The reception, bar, restaurant and everything downstairs is quite opulent, a true reflection of old Texas money. I can tell the rooms have been remodelled with taste giving a feeling of old combined with new. The beds are very comfortable. They could've made the bathrooms more appealing. What totally stands out is their service, superlative at all levels. It's definitely a place to revisit.

I thoroughly enjoyed a four night stay at the Valencia as a respite from the busy conference I was attending next door at the Holiday Inn. From the time I walked in the door, you are graced with excellent service, a calm atmosphere, a comfortable and spotlessly clean room with all kinds of libations and snacks, a balcony overlooking a lovely courtyard, and excellent dining options. I loved being welcomed by Tara who not only familiarized me with the hotel layout but also provided details for all of the hotel services, included a summary of hours for the restaurant and bar. My first night in, the bartender provided me with a complementary glass of cranberry juice. I enjoyed breakfast each morning at Dorrego's and highly recommend the Acai bowl and yogurt parfait. The last morning, I enjoyed coffee and a fresh scone at the Coffee Shop, Naranja. The wait staff at each of these venues were not only professional but also welcoming and friendly. I did need a little help to get my balcony door open, housekeeping was not done on one of the days of my visit (probably just an oversight as housekeeping was top notch on every other day), and the leather chair in the room was in need of repair (ripped leather), but all of these were small hiccups and did not detract from my overall enjoyment. I would enjoy returning to this hotel and will look to stay at other Valencia properties.

Location is perfect - walking distance to the busy part of the Riverwalk, where all the shops and restaurants are, and on a part that is more calm and relaxed. The hotel itself was very nice, though the furniture was very worn. The *very* disappointing part is the service. We were not told upon check-in that housekeeping is every other day. We thought it was full service - maybe not change sheets every day because that's just silly - but at least dry towels and empty the garbage cans. Nope. Nothing. Not even after we *scheduled* a cleaning for the next morning at 10 am. We came back to a pile of wet towels and full garbage cans. Got dry towels again. Told the person at the front desk that we had an "appointment" for a cleaning. The next day. Same. By now, we had given up and hung our towels all over the room to dry for the next day. If you're not going to provide dry towels, then at least have racks to hang them on. Pretty basic. We also were not told about the daily destination fee. Ridiculous. Then, two days after checking out, we noticed two charges on our credit card bill. I called and was told that it was for "honor bar" purchases. We didn't take anything from the refrigerator or the tray with the jar of very overpriced candy and nuts (small jar of M&Ms is $12). We had the charges removed. Maybe the housekeeping person saw empty water and soda bottles in the overflowing garbage cans and thought they came from the fridge, without actually checking the fridge to see that nothing had been removed. Or is this a way to get more money and hoping people don't check their credit card bills?? I sure hope not. There are cheaper hotels on the Riverwalk that are part of national chains that we will try if we return to San Antonio. Hotel Valencia was a real disappointment.

Hotel service was good. It is showing its age but is well kept. Not too impressed with the restaurant. Good location. Comfortable beds.
