Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile

No gym was a bummer but it’s a lovely place with great service.

The worst service you can imagine, in a place that has been under a very ugly renovation since the spring/summer, and promising to have it completed every month! And the renovations look hideous - like the hotel really would rather be a Tiffany jewelry store - lots of turquoise light fixtures that are like folded circles/stylized flowers? And something was brought to our room: the person knocked at the door and before we could even answer, just walked in! As frequent Accor members, we asked for a late checkout (1 pm), and our keys got cancelled at 11! For about forty dollars, you can enjoy a buffet breakfast - most of which you will not eat! We gave them lots of chances over the last 6 months. It used to be my preferred place to stay in Montreal, but we will never stay here again. The Valet service is the ONLY thing that stayed the same - still great.

No heating in the room on a snow day.

The property was undergoing renovations, which was not communicated to us. Based on other reviews, this has been an ongoing issue. Furthermore, the mattress was very old and required replacement. This is highly disappointing for a 5-star hotel. I would not recommend it. There are many other options in the immediate area.

We always loved the Sofitel, and regularly stayed at the hotel over the years when visiting family: but no gym, no bar, no Renoir, no place to sit while waiting in the entrance is really annoying as they are redoing the entrance, the restaurant, and the gym: what is the point of going if it is not cheaper. We were staying on the 14th floor on the street side on the main road, Sherbrooke. For the first time I slept so badly while at the hotel because of the street noise. Then only having the duvet for the bed, I was often too warm. I spend all night having it either on, when too cold, and off, when too warm. We had just spent 2 days in a Relais-Châteaux in North Hatley and I realized how disappointing Le Sofitel was.

Great place to stay in Montreal.

It was a nice hotel but there was significant ongoing construction and a days long power outage during my stay. The power outage was known in advance but I was not informed about this at the time of bookkeeping.

Room was incredibly comfortable. Staff was very attentive and curteous.
