Inn at Golden Gate

Besides the parking challenge, it was a great place to stay. Friendly hotel manager at the desk, very clean rooms, and a great location.

Only good thing about this Motel is it's walking distance to the Presidio and the Palace of Fine Arts.The property is old and needs a lot of work and definitely needs to be updated. Parking is very smaa and tight and not enough spaces for all the rooms. All that and ot wasn't ceep, over $170 per night.

Upon arrival, I was taken to a room without windows, which was different from the one I had booked. The hotel explained that their website photos have not yet been updated and that the booked room was different from what appeared online. They stated that if I wanted a better room—matching the one shown online—I would need to pay extra. I had already paid for a better room (with windows, as shown in the listing and a confirmation page) and did not expect to pay more. However, as I was tired from my flight and wanted to rest, I agreed to the additional charge. The hotel issued an invoice marking it as an “upgrade,” but in reality, it was the room I had originally booked. Initially, they quoted $300+ USD per night, and when I said that was too high, they reduced it to $135 USD for the stay. I felt I had no choice but to pay, especially since my calls to Booking.com during that time went unanswered. I am very disappointed with situation caused, which significantly impacted my overall experience.  I do not recommend this hotel as I felt I was taken advantage of and would never stay here again.
