The matress was firm and the water was hot. The room was clean and tidy, as was the bathroom (apart from some mold on the seals of the shower).

Staff were very helpful. Initial impression was that the hallways could do with a makeover. However my room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, linen very fresh and welcoming. The small bathroom was well maintained and clean. I stayed for 11 nights and had booked because of the Ibis reputation for good, basic rooms and comfortable beds. I was not disappointed. The hotel is just 10 mins walk from the light rail stop and 15 mins from Newcastle Interchange. The buses run through Hunter St or nearby so the Ibis is in an easy location for public transport.
