Very friendly and helpful staff. Great variety of breakfast. Very comfortable bed.

Slanting windows in bedroom - rain falling on the glass was very noisy - would have kept us awake if continued through night. Very weak coffee at breakfast.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we had booked the air con wasn't working and within minutes someone came up to check and we were moved to a room that it worked. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast had everything you need to start your day and again the staff were wonderful and helpful. Having the free carpark was fantastic too, with only a 10minute walk to the centre.

We enjoyed everything. Nothing not to like.

To say I was disappointed, is an understatement. I called to make a booking and requested a refurbished room and a quiet one away from the lift. When I arrived, it isn’t hard to notice how the interior it is very dated. Old fashioned carpets, service doors, furniture, the overall style is still screaming ‘60s except for the rooms including the bar that has tried its best to modernise with an obvious strict budget. The refurbished king room that I was given, Room 207 is indeed far away from the lift but near enough to our dear neighbours so we had dog barking, screaming children (didn’t expect to wake up to screaming children at 7am), moving noise from the rooms above, noise from the outside including what sounded like staff moving trolleys. Noise pollution everywhere! I also didn’t really enjoy the view of a brick building. The Aircon wasn’t working and we weren’t told at reception when we checked in. We had to leave the windows wide open to get fresh air (room was stuffy and hot). When we called in to say we couldn’t work the Aircon because it kept switching off, reception said they called for an engineer but not sure if they’re coming!! We asked for a fan, waited a hour then called downstairs again and they said they couldn’t find any. No call to let us know. Just made us wait. The coffee cups were dirty with stained coffee but when we told reception, they said we could have just taken it downstairs and they would have changed it. Oh how silly of us, yes we could have. Perhaps we could’ve brought our own steam clean vacuum to get rid of the awful stains on the carpet. But they said that it was tea stains and they tried but they can’t get rid of it. The breakfast was a very sad offering against a very old backdrop and can’t be bothered presentation. We paid good money for this 2 night stay and more than what you would pay for premier inn or travelodge. Should’ve gone there. The operations manager was kind enough to tell us she would be happy to not charge for the 2nd night if we choose to leave. She also offered an older room with a working Aircon. Had a look and it was indeed a very old room. Awful state considering we are choosing to pay good money for a decent trip away. Onto the positives, great shower pressure & some lovely staff. It seems they do try their best but are limited in experience.
