Easy check in and kind staff.

This motel was unacceptable. We paid $300 through booking.com only to discover the room rate through Howard Johnson is around $50. This is a more acceptable price for this level of accommodation. Please refer to photos to see how dirty and run down it was.

Definitely not what you think more along the lines of a motel

It was a place with a roof to sleep and bathe in.

The room was filthy and falling apart. Fixtures were rusted or broken or missing. My door was missing the top lock so the only lock it had was the one that us opened by the door key and when I asked to be moved to another room, the front desk said I couldn’t because I had “already been in the room too long” and he would “see if maintenance can go fix it”. Mind you when we pulled up to the room, shirtless men were watching me and my 70 year old mother from the second floor and from the beds of their trucks walk in to the room. To find no lock after seeing them watching us made us very uneasy and I ended up barricading the door with our suitcases and the ironing board. Maintenance did show up at 9:30 pm to replace the lock. The next morning I complained to the morning front desk person and she dismissed my feelings about the encounter with the shirtless men, telling me they are nice and there’s never any crime on their property. Additionally, the bed sheets were stained and, because of the response to the door lock, my mom didn’t want me to call to complain because she didn’t think they’d care. So she slept on the non-stained corner of the bed. The continental breakfast was minimal and had no protein elements included. There was a train track right by the hotel and the trains ran throughout the night, waking us up. I’ll never stay in a HJ again.
