Avoca Hotel

My husband and I stayed at the Avoca Hotel a few weeks ago to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We absolutely loved the hotel itself — it’s beautiful, with gorgeous scenery and lovely rooms. However, our experience this time was quite different from our previous stay in May. During that visit, the housekeeping staff went above and beyond for us every day, and we felt completely comfortable and welcomed. Very friendly and approachable. Unfortunately, during our most recent stay, there seemed to be a change in the housekeeping team, and the atmosphere was very different this time. We witnessed several arguments between what appeared to be the head housekeeper and her staff — one incident even resulted in a staff member crying. The tension among the team created a very uncomfortable and uneasy environment for us throughout our two-day stay, which sadly affected what should have been a special celebration. I would strongly recommend that management look at the concerning behavior displayed by supervisors as this is seriously affecting the work ethic in this hotel and I noticed a massive change this time visiting. I will not return to this hotel as I found the management staff very hostile and overall a very uncomfortable experience.

Rooms very nicely decorated- great cosy beds, great showers. Lovely helpful friendly staff. Great food in the restaurant.

The Wi-Fi was non existent- very strange for a hotel especially if needing to work. Poor data coverage so it was hard to use our phones especially down stairs in the restaurant. One of our rooms had no shelving to put sanitary items on - really needs considering. All our things had to be put on the floor.

Woke up at 7am from the washing machines/tumble dryer.
