The private parking was convenient for me when I drove in from the airport. It was easy to unload luggage, and everything was nearby. made it much less stressful to check in and out.

I enjoyed the quiet, non-smoking rooms during my one-night work trip. The bathroom was spotless and had all the necessities, and the bed was cozy. After a long day, it was very easy to wind down.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this Holiday Inn is not a standard suburban hotel. The property is huge, spread out over a scenic area that feels calm and resort-like. Natasza at the front desk welcomed us warmly and took the time to explain where everything was located, which helped a lot given the size of the property. The indoor pool was enormous and spotless, and the entire stay felt upscale and relaxed.

We thought to rent a room for an evening to get the kids out of the house and use the pool as we live 2 minutes from the hotel. It was NOT a great experience at all. I called to make the reservation, same day, and spoke with a gentleman who was pleasant! I asked him if the pool was open and he assured me it was and very well heated! We arrived to check in no later than 30 minutes later and the pool was unavailable to use at that time as someone had an incident and they had just cleaned it. They were waiting for it to heat up and it would be another hour or so before it was of a good temperature. We tried to swim MULTIPLE times throughout the night and couldn’t do more than 5-10 min as the pool was FREEEEEEZING! No more than 75 degrees! Even though the staff said mid 80’s is the usual temperature. It was super unfortunate that the one thing we go for we couldn’t even enjoy. We decided to try make the best of it and we stayed the night since we already paid for it. The next morning we went down for breakfast and come to find out there was NO HEAT IN THE RESTAURANT! A employee let us know they had been dead all morning and it was probably because the heat wasn’t working. (On a 25 degree day, may I add.) We even thought about staying and swimming in hopes the pool would be at its normal temperature and NOPE! STILL COLD! We were incredibly disappointed with our stay and will look for other hotels in the area next time.

We recently hosted a corporate seminar at this venue, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. The staff was highly professional, attentive, and well-organized, ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish. They were quick to assist with setup, technical requirements, and guest coordination, which made the event stress-free for our team. The venue proved to be an excellent choice for Crystal Lake corporate events, and we would highly recommend it to any organization looking for a reliable and well-managed event space.

Holiday Inn Crystal Lake is the ideal banquet venue for McHenry County. The food was excellent and the event team was so helpful.

I got stuck in the elevator. It was awful. Staff was good…but the help never arrived and somehow the door opened. It was Christmas Eve and maybe staff shortage. A So…fitness center had 4 pieces of equipment out of order.
