If you are looking for a cheaper place its ok...but rooms are on the older side and a musty smell we will never stay again

We loved the spacious room. Bathroom was on the small size. The fireplace was unique in the corner. I loved the rocking chairs that were out on the balcony. The Poolside Cafe was a nice place to eat. Not much of a wait for food. We had breakfast and a dinner there.

Pet friendly motel in great location. The rooms are somewhat dated BUT clean, comfy bed, fantastic price! The best thing was the beautiful park 1/2 block away to walk our dog.

As someone who has been in hospitality for 25 years and currently works at the number one treehouse resort in America that is a five-star experience, I was absolutely thrilled with this hotel. The history, it was built so long ago, but nice. And the best part is the people. I felt like I was walking into myself. Meaning, these people know how to treat their guests. It was always pleasant. We had a room on the top floor with a Riverview. Even though off the balcony you're looking at another hotel it is still peaceful. The bed was comfy, but best of all, I searched through the entire hotel room looking for dirt or something that was not cleaned. I even pulled the filters and the AC and everything was absolutely spotless! We're talking the bottom of the toilet, behind the door in the bathroom in the corner, under the sink everywhere and everything was perfectly clean! Extremely close to the parkway. Across from log cabin pancake House. On the same road as roaring forton motor nature trail which is amazing. Spectacular indoor and outdoor pool and a restaurant on site!

We always come to the Sydney James during our stay in Gatlinburg. Never a disappointment! Staff is SO kind and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

Second stay and still as warm and cozy as first trip

Walkable to all of the “the strip” as I like to call it, which is super convenient, but it’s far enough away to not feel constantly surrounded by crowds when you’re at your room. Super close to the National Park and easy to access. We saw a bear from our balcony two separate nights which was also super cool.

It was awesome!

Great hotel, be aware that only some of the rooms have a water view.
