"Good value for the price I paid"

6.0

I had to stay one extra night and luckily found a good deal! The price-quality combination is ok! But the staff is amazing! I had to leave three in the morning, so they changed the breakfast I paid for, for a tasty homemade dinner! The rooms are rather small, and I had little annoying flies. Bathroom is old and needs renovation. Beds are not comfy!

"good price for this quality"

6.0

I stayed for one night at this hotel. Good location (very close to Unirii's Square -5 minutes by feet), free internet access, nice staff and good breakfast. The room was big but with old furniture and the shower was not working well (I stayed at room 3).

"Good omelette"

6.0

After staying in this hotel for two nights, I can confirm wha others wrote here about the omelette, and the breakfast, even while a bit overpriced, is not bad either as a whole. However what was a big disappointment was the quality of the bed. While the sleeping facilities are the most crucial for any hotel, it often only amazes me how some properties wont seem to put much care and invest on good bedding for the guests. If they had new beds, then I would gladly stay again. The hotel was not too far away from center by foot, and the unencrypted wifi worked good. However to ensure the digital security of the guests, the hotel should readlly consider enabling the encryption in the wifi.

"Not so great"

4.0

Right away, I knew I was in for it. The main entrance has two entrances, one easily accessible, the other up a flight of stairs. Guess which one was locked and which one lead to the reception desk? I had some serious luggage for this trip, so lug I did. The person at the front desk was very nice, smiling eyes, so that was good, and her courtesey was only reason why this hotel didn't get a "one." As for the hotel itself, it can best be described as "tacky." My room on the third floor was sparsely furnished, formica desk, and an old CRT-type TV, which didn't work. The wifi, which didn't require a password, a nice touch, didn't work either, and after several tries, they sent someone to re-start it. When it finally got going, it was a weak signal, so the network took its time to load pages, send emails, etc. The bathroom, which didn't have a shower stall, was tiled. A good thing because the hand shower in the (tiny little) tub squirted everywhere. There was exactly one bar of soap, nothing else, and I had to go downstairs to request toilet paper. While going downstairs, I almost tripped on a section of rug that had come loose. But if you like kitschy prints, old throw rugs, and olive colored crushed velvet recliners, this hotel just might be for you. At least the the staff was friendly, and at the bar (I think it's a bar), I had a nice conversation with two of the younger staffers. Finally, here's the one thing we all want from a hotel: a good night's sleep, but unfortunately my bed was just too lumpy for that.

"Avoid this hotel even if you have to pay more"

2.0

I have been in Bucharest many times but this hotel is the worst by far I have stayed. Well, the prices are lower than elsewhere but the level of the whole service is also much more lower. Actually it's not even a three-star hotel. The worst of all is this situation I had to face with reagarding the bathroom. I stayed for 3 nights and I had no any possibility for a shower after returning from a day of hard work. THE WATER WAS COLD every evening. But this is not the only one. I could find warmer water in the mornings where I could "enjoy" the shower in a very small bathroom with a bunged bathtab! I told to the reception on the first day but nothing happened. (This room was supposed to be a junior suite as they called it) In this hotel they use keycards for the rooms, but the clients should leave them in the reception when they go out. I couldn't imagine that and on the first day I kept it in my pocket. As a result, on that day none went to clean the room! No need to say that the towels were the same during the days of my stay. After 9 o'clock both the bar and the restaurant are closed. So you don;t have something to eat, and if you are hungry "go to the Unirii Place" as the lady of the reception told me. Other writers talked about the so annoying old fasioned decoration, but this is detail comparing with the lack of any profesionalism. It was a bad choice I did this time. Never again in the future.

"Not the nicest of hotels"

4.0

My friends and I stayed here for 3 nights over the new year, and I can't really say I enjoyed it. I've struggled to find anything that I liked about this hotel, and the best I could come with is that the breakfast omelettes were good... Otherwise, the place was dark, empty (when we left there was one guest staying there), and all the Bucharest 'information' leaflets are effectively ads for escort services; perhaps this is a testimony to the type of guests they normally cater for. As for the rooms, they were seemingly decorated from a jumble sale in the 50s and not touched since. Don't be swayed by the photo of the swanky exterior - this is the only modern thing about the hotel. When we arrived I told reception that the safe in my room wouldn't open. So the manager duly came up, looked at it, told me there was a problem with the battery and that he would fix it, and never did. Ditto for the shower in my friend's room. The following morning we had to ask our waitress three times for a coffee, although to be fair to her, this may have been because she was also the receptionist, and the same one who had checked us in the afternoon before (so had worked a 24-hour shift)! Early the next evening, I asked if I could borrow an iron, and was told "no", but that I could pay someone to iron my shirt for me - but not until tomorrow as there was no-one there who could do that then... Go figure! If you want to experience what once upon a time might have been considered a 'standard' Eastern European hotel, with dubious plumbing and enough satin to last you a lifetime, stay at the Dalin. But this wouldn't do Bucharest justice. If you want very pleasant, modern Romanian service and style, stay at the Rembrandt - which we also had done but had to move as it was full. Finally, just one last point for anyone at the Dalin who might read this: next year, please don't put up all those gaudy Christmas decorations (although to be honest it did make pointing out the hotel to taxi drivers easier), and for the sanity of your guests, dispense with that awful tacky Santa that lets rip a loud burst of "ho ho ho" every time anyone walks past...

"Mixed feelings..."

6.0

The room was half way between a regular room and a suite i.e. it was pretty big and consisted of a bedroom, a lounge, a bathroom and an entrance hallway. However, I was slightly put off by the fifties style decor. The staff were ok, but didnt go out of their way to help us. The concierge couldnt speak a word of any language apart from romanian. However, they did meet our demands whenever one arose. It feels like a very safe and secure hotel, unlike some other bucharest hotels which i have heard of. It is about 10 mins from the city centre, which is good for sightseeing, but it is a hell of a trip from the airport. The taxi driver WILL try to rip you off. You have been warned!! I would recommend this hotel as it does surpass its official rating, yet keeps its prices down. Some hotels in bucharest seem to think very highly of themselves and as a result, they make the prices astronomical. Dalin is a sensible hotel in this respect.

"Nice people"

6.0

We have just returned from a more than a week at Dalin Hotel, Bucharest. Likes: The hotel is very well located, close to downtown and walking distance to the subway station. I was pleasantly impressed with the kindness of the hotel staff (the young and pretty receptionists, the waiter and cleaning personnel). They were very helpful and receptive to our requests. The room is big and spacious and it has air conditioning! That was a big bonus when outside were 37-40C! The room and bathroom were cleaned every day. The breakfast was excellent, fresh and diverse. It was served very promptly. The hotel entrance was monitored and locked. That gave us much security. Dislikes: The furniture is kind of outdated, some blinds and door knobs were broken. In the bathroom, the curtain rod was falling all the time because was not fixed properly in the wall. It was a challenge everytime I showered because I had to hold that rod with one hand and with the other hand to hold the shower head! With all that struggle, the water leaked on the floor anyway! We didn't have hot water in the first day! After we notified the reception, the inconvenience was fixed. There is no iron in the room to iron your clothes! There is an ironing service but you have to pay for every item. That made us to buy our own iron! Overall I would say this is an average hotel with good accomodation conditions. I would recommend it to my friends if they want to go on a trip to Bucharest!
