Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club

Our family visited Kauai and had a great time. This resort has a beautiful beach and pools as well as nice service for umbrellas and refreshments. Staff was helpful and friendly.

The location is perfect and this place could be a gem . The only reason I’m writing a somewhat negative review is because of the $ spent . It does not meet resort level amenities nor service . We came to the island to explore and left early each day and requested room service be provided while we were gone so we’d have a clean room after a few long days of hiking. The room was not serviced one time without me having to make multiple requests . I would have understood if they just got behind but each time we called they said they had no record of the request . Also don’t count on there being ice machines . So strange for a resort . They sent me into the 3rd party market on property and said they would give me some. After waiting in the long “Starbucks” line they informed me they are not part of Marriott and would have to charge me for a cup of ice . Gal was very sweet about it but a ridiculous policy for the basic ice request . When I asked further about this I was then informed they could deliver some to our room . A lot of wasted time trying to get ice. Only restaurant on site has decent food . Simple food but got the order messed up. Really exceptional food options off property . This island and trip were amazing. We would stay in the location of the island again but would research for better lodging options . .

We stayed for a week and loved everything about it! The property was gorgeous, the beach was fun (a little small, but still fine), and the rooms were spacious. On the inside, the rooms were maybe a little dated, but the property itself made up for it with all the well manicured lawns, waterfalls, landscaping, etc. The pools were clean and taken care of, and everyone was really laid back and accommodating. We didn't book a special view or anything, but we were able to overlook scenic gardens from our large balcony. The beds were also really comfortable! Overall, this property, and the island of Kauai, are everything you could ask for in a tropical vacation! We even saw sea turtles on the beach!

Our family had a pleasant stay at Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club. We stayed in a 2-bedroom villa and everything is perfect for us.

I spent $1300 on a "villa". I waited around for 2 hours (until 5:45 pm) for the room to be ready. Promises were made repeatedly that the room would be ready shortly. Not so. There is only one relatively small restaurant for the whole hotel and the wait for dinner was long, and the restaurant and bar close at 8 pm, so don't expect food or drinks after that.

Family wanted to visit Kauai this year and we like Marriott, so looked into options/availability. Had been told that Poipu was the best area. This hotel is right on the beach, so we booked a room for a week. It was an excellent home base for our family of five adults. Property is pretty with nice landscaping. Our 2-bedroom unit was spacious, bright and comfortable. Overlooked an empty lot adjacent to the Poipu Beach parking lot. Not a problem though with the landscaping offsetting the view. Opened the sliding doors early each morning to enjoy the sound of birds and roosters! Stopped at Costco and Walmart in Lihue for groceries and made use of the unit kitchen and community grills. Glad we did as we were exhausted at the end of each day and not interested in heading back out to dinner. Impressed with all the kitchen had stocked - everything we needed to cook, plus a blender for beach drinks! A huge plus for this property is access to the beach. Walk past the pools and onto the sand. Also enjoyed the “quiet” pool which had chairs available each time we stopped by. That said, the property feels a bit overrun. Did not wish to spend more than a day there. The main pool area was overcrowded and chaotic. Glad we purchased beach equipment at Costco as the hotel doesn’t provide anything on the beach. Kauai is beautiful with more to visit and do than can be fit into a week. This hotel was great as a space to relax each night after a busy day elsewhere on the island. Unit was comfortable and spacious for five adults. Everyone - staff as well as other guests - are friendly and the overall vibe is happy. That said, I would only stay here again if we were with a large group and/or planning to spend our time elsewhere during the day.

My family have been owners for many years but have never stayed at this property. We are disappointed to say the least. The unit is dirty and dingy. Everything is sticky or broken. The garbage disposal doesn’t work. We have what was described as an ocean view, but it’s really just a parking lot view with a tiny bit of ocean that’s barely visible. The property is very crowded. You need to line up at 7am (pool opens at 8) to have a chance at getting a lounge chair for the day. The beach is very small with no chairs or umbrellas provided. Waited 45 minutes for cold soggy fries at the pool one day. It’s our son’s birthday (which they knew) but they never acknowledged it in any way. (We have had balloons delivered at some of the other Marriott vacation properties). We have been doing a lot of exploring the island rather than stay at the property just to get away for the day. Overall very disappointed. Kauai is beautiful, but if we ever come back we will not be staying here.
