Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club

I love going here every other year. They do seem to have cut back on some simple stuff that is annoying. But the pool is nice and the beds are really comfortable except for the pillows. The villa bathrooms need a makeover but the rest is fine. They used to allow dvd borrowing and there is nothing like that now. It s a beautiful location overlooking the ocean Poipu beach is very nice. Late summer is a bit rough in the water but its lovely. The bar is next to the beach so that's a bonus. Food is so so but I don't expect much with all the food available right down the road.

Relaxation pool, the view on the lawn overlooking the ocean, beautiful lobby. Activities were nice.

-Elevator was down for for 4 days. -Furniture in the room is very old and very beat up. Looks like something from a thrift store. Really cheapens the quality of the room. -No breakfast available is really unfortunate. -Value for the money definitely not there. -Charging for parking terrible.

I will start with location- that is a 5/5. But that’s where it ends. We checked in and our room wasn’t ready until well after the 4 PM check in time. When we drove we asked if we could get help with our bags and were told we could self-park and bring our own bags up to the room later. Room was supposed to be ocean view but the view was of the parking lot with a tiny tiny peek of ocean through the trees (see picture). That is if you left the windows open because the windows were so dirty you couldn’t see through. We asked for another room and were given one that was slightly better in terms of view but the room was filthy. Fingerprints on the countertops, hair in the bathroom sink and on the night stand, bird poop half cleaned off of the outdoor furniture (leaving smears) and bird poop all over the lanai, dirty windows. Since it was after 4 pm, cleaning service was not available so they sent the one maintenance person on call. He was great (he deserves a 5/5), and did the best he could but didn’t have time to do a full clean because had a lot of calls to deal with and agreed the condition was unacceptable and we should request a full clean the next day. The next morning we asked at the desk if we could get the room fully cleaned. The front desk person “listened” without listening. Clearly they are just told to say “they understand”. She called the service supervisor and told him the room wasn’t cleaned “to our liking”. She clearly hadn’t listened to the areas we were requesting cleaning for. The rest of the property is fine. I wouldn’t recommend it if you are looking for relaxation. It’s crowded, loud and there is, for example, no pool towel refresh. You get one set of towels and need to keep track of them for the whole time you are there. No on-site restaurant. Rooms are dated and showing it. The prices are very high for what you get and I would instead recommend a smaller room at the Ko’a Kea next door- much nicer facility and the staff actually seems to care about the guests, rather than just reciting rote “we understand” answers without actually listening.

This breaks my heart to review this because this is our home resort. I'm not sure I'll come back. I'll start with the good. Pros: The beach is beautiful, clean, and long (not deep) The Hono Bar has great food and attentive service The staff is friendly The resort is close to shopping and Little Fish (great coffee, smoothies, açai) Cons: When we arrived the room was not clean, hair on bathroom floors and one very long hair when I pulled back my bed. I immediately walked to the front desk - they were very apologetic and responsive. They sent 2 very nice housekeeping guys to 'freshen' our room. The serenity pool was not clean. I thought maybe I was just being critical bc of my initial experience but nope - overheard another gentleman at the pool say he was switching pools bc maybe the other wouldn't be so slimy. Overall, the resort needs a deep clean. The hallways were icky - dead bugs, dirty floors for the entire week. The gym machines need a scrub. It just overall felt neglected and relying on its location. We sent a note to the MVC in hopes they do better.

Property was excellent, once we were able to find it.

As with most travelers to Hawaii, we were tired from a long day of travel. It was dark. Qnd tbere were several resorts all together. Took us a few tries to get to the correct resort.

They gave me the worst room in the entire property. It was the absolute furthest room possible in the corner. I wish it was possible to see what building i was going to be put in when i made the reservation. I would have never have stayed here.

We really enjoyed the location being so close to Poipu beach. Amenities were good and staff were great!

This place is incredible! We only stayed one night, our last night on the island. We really appreciated the hospitality for people like us who needed to check out in the morning but have access to the resort until the evening when it was time to leave. Highly recommend!

The property is so pretty and the location offers the best beach of the Island. Poipu Beach is incredible beautiful and perfect for both sunrises and sunsets. The presence of sea turtles and seals are definitely a bonus. I'm verry happy that volunteers are protecting the animals on the beach against overenthusiastic tourists. The beach gets crowded during the day but there is enough space at the swimming pool or on the beach chairs (reserved for hotel guests only) in front of the beach. Marriott's Waihohai Beach Club is a good base to explore the island like the Waimea canyons, whale watching... The room was quiet, clean and had everything we needed. We loved our stay here!

It's pricey but I think everything in Hawaii is extremely expensive.
