Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club

Second time at Waiohai, which is a long way to go for us (we don't go to the same places when we visit Hawaii). It's still my favorite Vacation Club, and a little different from others in terms of stuff for kids (no dedicated kid's pool, etc.) But it's family friendly, the resort is ideally located, highest level service, amenities, views and right next to Poipu Beach. The bar is excellent, so are the views and the staff. All staff were helpful, and there are many great walks along the ocean, down into shops at Kukui'ula, or the other way towards Makahuena point. Stores in Koloa are good for food or casual shopping. I can't say enough good things about here.

This is our 9th time at the Waiohai, it is our favorite Marriott timeshare. The villas are comfortable and typical of Marriott's style - your view usually depends on if you're a Marriott owner but we found the staff very accommodating - they offered us a good view in a building with a longer walk which was well worth it as our view was lovely! The landscaping is beautiful and well maintained. The Honu bar offers a small menu but good food (I enjoyed my specialty drink but my husband and friend thought theirs were very light on the alcohol and not very good) - the servers are friendly and it's fun to eat there while you look at the ocean and maybe spot whales passing by. There are ample bbq grills if you want to grill, which a lot of people do. There are 3 pools -- a relaxation pool (not for kids) which is good for swimming laps (as you dodge the adults who stand there and talk for hours), the large pool which is busy but enough room to swim, and a very shallow pool by the beach (which is pretty much only usable to put your feet in). That said, the grounds provide ample room for your lounge chair, shade, sun, fantastic ocean view. The beach is a little small but you can walk onto the county beach where you will find sea turtles and monk seals and lots of people enjoying the good snorkeling. In the other direction you can walk towards the Sheraton and another long beach. We really enjoyed Courtney who taught the water aerobics class and also a specialty yoga/Tai Chi/Hula class -- Courtney teaches the Hawaiian culture and we really appreciated the opportunity to learn from her. We feel the Waiohai offers the best Marriott experience of the true Kauai and we look forward to returning next year!

Wow! Simply a beautiful property! The grounds are exquisitely maintained and abundant in beauty! The staff is very gracious, helpful, friendly and eager to serve! The two bedroom accommodations were fabulous! VERY spacious and extremely nice with excellent housekeeping! The resort sits on the stunning Poipu Beach which is excellent for swimming, snorkeling and wildlife viewing (sea turtles and Hawaiian monk seals). The pool area is just lovely and the pool is so much fun! It was really nice that the resort has multiple hot tubs since the spas are rather small having more than one helped accommodate more people who wished to sit in the spa. Parking was nice and close to the units. Our particular untol was a ground floor that opened to the pool area and we loved walking from our lanai to the pool. We cannot wait to return to this resort and highly recommend it! We did not eat at the resort because we just cooked in our well appointed kitchen or ate at local restaurants but the resort did seem to offer some casual dining options and take out options that seemed quite popular.

First time in Kauai. Was fortunate to book this resort of Christmas week. This place is a smaller MVC and popular. Also was lucky to be given a first floor room with a view overlooking the middle courtyard of the resort and very well appointed green space-ponds, landscaping, man made waterfalls etc. Some rooms unfortunately overlook the parking lot. It sits right on Poipu Beach which is regarded as one of the best on the island. Very close to a lot of shopping and restaurants. Most people seemed to have rented cars. Has a small beach bar that serves drinks and typical average pub food. Most families either cook or eat off site. There are a few places within walking distance. The beach is really nice, somewhat wavy and does have monk seals and sea turtles that come up around sunset. I thought the resort itself was beautiful and well maintained. Staff and islanders in general were super friendly. Only complaint is the weather. Kauai tends to be on the rainy and not as sunny as Maui or Oahu. 100 percent recommend.

Loved the pool and the fact the beach was right there.

Lovely MVC resort on Kauai. Well appointed and beautifully maintained. Great full kitchen and 2 bedrooms with their own bathrooms. The oceanfront location near Poipu State Park beach is wonderful. The grounds are also well maintained. Service was good throughout our stay with a few maintenance items being resolved within minutes. Underground parking was provided under each building. There is walkability to the beach in front of the resort, as well as to the nearby shopping center and restaurants ( 4 minutes walk). There is also a restaurant/ bar open in the early evenings that also appears to serve breakfast on weekend mornings.

Room was clean and big. The checkin and checkout staff were very matter of fact and not cordial. They told me that they have different rules and policies from other Marriott’s because they are a time share property. The bar staff also looked very busy and not friendly. I was ordering a drink from the bar to talk to the pool. The bartender told me I was standing in the wrong area, so I moved to a different area, and then she served someone else from where I had been standing.

We’ve been coming here as members for 16+ years and have been holding our breath for a decline. Not a chance! The Marriott Waiohai team is fabulous. The grounds look better than ever, rooms are updated, Hula Bar team is attentive and engaging, and we had a wonderful time. See you again in 2025!!
