Magnolia Hotel Houston, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

I went for my birthday. Brooke and the front desk staff were attentive and accommodating. I will be back anytime I’m in Houston!

I checked into this hotel on Monday, October 27th, and it was one of the worst hospitality experiences I've encountered. The property is nothing like what's advertised on their website. It is a classic case of false advertising and lying to the customer. The Room: Within 20 minutes of checking in, I knew I had to leave. The rooms are outdated, dark, and have an unpleasant odor. The views are terrible (You can only see the roofs of old buildings), and the overall condition is far below acceptable standards for any hotel, let alone a Marriott property. Accessibility Issues: The bathroom presented serious safety concerns. The bathtub requires guests to step up at least 4 inches to enter, which is a significant hazard for anyone with mobility issues. As someone with a medical condition that affects my mobility, this was not just inconvenient but potentially dangerous. even thought they showed me another room (supposdely for guest with disabilities, it was equally digusting). Customer Service Failure: When I tried to address these issues, I had to wait an excessive amount of time for the manager, who was apparently in the bathroom for more than 20 minutes according to the front desk person who was clearly on the phone with sales laughing and giggling and preparing to tell me that I was going to get screwed and have to pay for one night). When they finally appeared, they showed complete indifference to my concerns about accessibility and the room conditions. The operations manager had the audacity to dismiss my complaint by claiming the room photo I'd seen online was of a suite, not a standard room – as if that excuses the deplorable conditions. No Refund: Despite staying only 20 minutes and immediately moving to another Marriott property, they refused to refund even one night of my $300 payment (They hid behind the conference contract clause). This is unacceptable customer service. Bottom Line: Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere. The facilities are poorly maintained, the staff is unhelpful, and they clearly don't care about guest satisfaction or accessibility needs. They didnt even offer to help with bags when we checked in----two gentlemen standing in the front talking and totally ignored us as we got our luggage out of the Uber. Suffice to say, there are many better options in the area that actually deliver what they promise.
