Property was being renovated and lobby area was a construction zone

As previously mentioned by other reviewers, the hotel was still under construction at the end of June. There was construction dirt and dust throughout the hotel lobby and first floor areas. Understandable but the elevator was filthy too with paper and dirt that was never cleaned for the three days we were there. You could see nothing was swept, mopped or dusted. Our room was not cleaned although we requested housekeeping three times. We had a family event that took us into late night on Sunday and returned to no housekeeping including clean towels and bedding. When we complained to the person at the desk, he offered to move us which was appreciated but not the solution to an ongoing issue. We contacted the general manager who never bothered to return our calls or email. We have family that we visit several times per year traveling from out of state and we will definitely not stay at the Hampton BG. We are big Hampton Inn fans but won't bother with this one in the future.

Expedia charged me and the hotel charged me TWICE!!!

Very racist employees working here. Very rude and nasty. We had the kitchen staff watching us when making breakfast like they've never seen black people. Housekeeping came to our room banging on the door. It was disgusting to be here. Key cards don't work. Tvs went out with no service we had to use our phones and when they stated they would give us a discount and change the room rates, we still got fully charged for such poor service. We had to endure all this nonsense with three babies and we were there for a family emergency. It sucks. We will not be back to bowling Green and if we do go back it will not be here! This hotel is undergoing a major renovation, and I don't hold that against them - the issues that I had here were with the renovation quality in the rooms and the lack of what felt like safe parking. The rooms have been recently updated in a way that leads me to wonder if hotel architects are all football line backers or gymnasts. I stayed in a king size room that is, to be fair, quite large, but the space is set up so that there is lots of wide open areas, but tiny surfaces to actually place things, besides the desk. The bed itself is so high up off of the ground that I had to but a chair cushion on the floor to stand on so that I could haul myself up. I am not a young person, but I am not frail, and honestly, if you are an older person, especially a short older person, do not stay here unless you have the added ability to levitate. The bathroom is also large but there is no place to sit anything besides a smallish vanity, and the shower lacks space to sit your own products. In general the design is just off and the workmanship isn't that great either. The other issue is with the lack of ample parking. The weeknight I stayed there, a number of highway workers or utility workers were staying there, too, and they congregated in the parking lot, talking loudly and, quite honestly, making me and some other women who were staying there, feel a bit unsafe walking from our cars. Additionally, there is not enough parking for rooms and no street parking, so I have no idea what folks do when the hotel is full. I will say that the facility is located conveniently to the university and to many shops and restaurants. I walked over to the Starbucks for breakfast (Hilton property breakfasts are not my thing), and it took about 2 minutes.

Steph is very friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms are very clean and the management is so considerate.
