Spark by Hilton Cedar City

The bathroom had blood splattered on the floor. The hotel would not give us a different room. The person from the front desk came to the room and sprayed it with an unlabeled bottle and wiped up the visible spot with a rag. The person did not use any personal protective equipment to clean up the blood and did not have anything to properly dispose of the rag. The person would not clean the entire bathroom floor. Since the hotel did not offer us a new room. I refused to stay in a room that had a potential blood borne pathogen exposure.

Property was under construction. When I booked it did say that the third floor was under renovation but because of that each room was bare of a refrigerator and a microwave. We had to ask to get a refrigerator. Staff was very accommodating and quick with that request.

TLC badly needed in this crappy hotel with minimal service (housekeeping on every other day without notification), bare bone breakfast, and dirty carpet in the room that would make this our last stay at this hotel and dampened our future stays at the Hilton group hotels despite having the Diamond status.

Floor 3 is under renovation. Floor 2 is very dated and worn. We had a queen bed room on floor 2. It was fairly small and not in good shape. There is no way this hotel in its current condition that is should rate a 3 out 4 stars on TripAdvisor. There was an empty trash bag left on the bed. The sound on the TV was very garbled. We will not be staying here again. The front desk was very nice and excited about the renovation.

The room was very hot and did not cool down sufficiently until about 1am. The bed was uncomfortable and squeaked loudly with even minor movement. It kept waking me up when I would turn over. The shower nozzle was covered with pink mildew/ aka Serratia marcescens which is a bacteria.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this hotel. I previously stayed at the Hampton Inn in St. George, which was fantastic. Unfortunately, this hotel was not clean, and the walls and floors were thin, making the space feel cramped compared to the spaciousness of the St. George location. Additionally, I found better prices elsewhere; the cost here was higher than I had anticipated. During my last visit to Cedar City, I stayed at La Quinta, which was much nicer, cleaner, and cheaper. It offered more space, an open check-in area, a better breakfast setup, and a superior elevator. This Hampton Inn felt it was a mess. I'm not sure if they are in the process of remodeling, but it seems like they need to completely rebuild. I chose Hampton Inn is because I had a lot of points from my stay in St. George. I also struggled to get a price match from other hotels or take advantage of any special rates. This year, I’ve stayed at six different hotels, and this was by far my worst experience. It wasn’t worth the money I spent. Furthermore, there was a horrible smell in the hotel that resembled that of a skunk or sewer, which kept me awake and made it difficult to sleep. The bed was also uncomfortable. To top it off, there was no fridge or microwave in the room—a standard feature in most hotels. In contrast, the Hampton Inn in St. George at SunRiver offered keyless entry and a much friendlier experience overall.
