Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort

Good place with beach resort. It was very busy during our visit on December. Arrived early but had to wait on the lobby until 4 PM to get checked in. There is only 1 restaurant at the hotel which was a great disadvantage with the limited menu options. Drinks & Cocktails werent that great. Restaurants definitely requires an upgrade. Also ensure that ocean front was full ocean front or balcony, I was bit disappointed to get a ocean balcony when I booked ocean front, the devils are in the details. Also being closer to airport, you will get annoyed by constant take off sounds.

Loved the pool

While I knew the hotel lobby areas had been undergoing renovation since last summer, I didn't know that the guest rooms would be included (though it was due) or that the renovations would include taking out the dedicated work space (I thought Marriott dropped that bad idea years ago!). Pictures included of what is left behind now-keep in mind, I had a room that, in theory, could hold 4 adults but there is now just one baby chair & a little table left. The closet has been relocated to the foot of the bed & since it sticks out, anyone in the 2nd bed, or sitting in the baby chair, can't see the tv. There is literally about an 1 inch of space left between the bed & closet door which makes using the closet awkward at best (not to mention a fall risk due to the bed frame itself sticking out). Nothing to put suitcases on, though a luggage stand was brought up after I went down to ask for it since the phone in the room didn't work. There are new light fixtures beside the beds, though one of those didn't work, & while additional outlets were added there, they all have blue status lights on them which throw an incredible amount of light at night (especially since they also bounce off the tv screen). While the main entrance to the hotel is now open again (no more having to come in thru the garage), the breakfast area is currently closed off for construction.

Atmosphere was relaxing. The view to the beach. Friendly staff.

Nothing

The hotel is directly under a major airline flight path. The sound of the flights kept us up all night. We paid for an oceanfront room and it was a partial oceanfront with a concrete wall. The hotel refused to change our room. The hotel is out of date and under construction.

Do yourself a favor and book the Fairmont if it’s a similar price. I wish I had! I chose this hotel bc it had the room and bed configurations that I needed for my family available on the days I needed. And I’ve never had a bad experience at courtyard Marriott. The renovation of lobby and one dining area that they mention really didn’t bother me at all. When you exit the elevators into the hallways for the rooms you’re hit with a smell that I can only describe as a cross between urine and mold. I was placed in a 5th floor room that looked right into construction that screeched like loud nails on a chalkboard all day. The room itself smelled like the hallway. I requested a new room. I was put in a renovated room on the 3rd floor. The old room had a microwave, closet, room safe, full length mirror, iron and ironing board. The new room had none of that. It did have an old mini fridge on the floor with the cord showing and a loosely attached shelf above it to put the coffee on. The furniture was old- faces on the drawers didn’t even match. The couch that I’ve seen in other courtyard Marriott was stained and missing the pillows and ottoman that I’ve always seen accompany them. There is no closet- just a rolling rack to hang clothes on. There’s no headboards or any kind on the bed or wall. Just two wedge pillows that have pillow cases that don’t even cover all of the pillow. Some weird light on the wall that looks like it should illuminate a picture but there isn’t one there and the light doesn’t work. In fact there is zero artwork or decor in the room at all. The beach was nice, the staff was friendly, the pool was fine. But that doesn’t make up for the disappointment in the rooms. This was not what I was hoping when I booked a family trip for my family’s 25th wedding anniversary.

Just wonderful! Everyone is very friendly and we were treated with terrific service! The pool /towel man, Fernando, is a true treasure! He is a one-man stand and makes everyone feel special. The concierge really helped us so much! This was our third trip this year and we will return again.
