A beautiful setting. The hotel was clean and friendly. Lovely cooked breakfast. No sign of the honesty bar, but staff were happy to serve us drinks from their events bar 😀 Would definitely return.

The room was stylishly decorated on an operatic theme, and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was good. We liked the quiet dark location and mountain views.

Our room was not made up after the first night. Tea and milk in the room were not replenished, nor were the guests' stocks in the corridor. No-one greeted us on arrival or saw us on departure, making our visit feel rather anonymous.

Location and decor

The checking in system, very random. No explanation as to how it worked before you got there. Key fob for auto front doors did not work. No door bell on the entrance door to attract attention.

What a beautiful hotel, the staff were amazing and the room was gorgeous. The breakfast was super too. Will definitely return.

The property was just outside a nice town with stores and pubs. The house is nice and quiet. Rooms have a rooftop terrace with a great view over the valley. The bathroom was nice and modern.

Staff is not present for check-in, only at breakfast. It's understandable, as the property has few rooms. The price seems a bit high in this respect.

Full of character, nothing is plumb or level.

The ethos is self guided to minimise demands on the owners, but several aspects are only clear once you have worked them out. On a sunny day the instructions for accessing the room were not in view with the doors open. An explanatory email would be helpful. The best parts of the property, inside and out, are off limits to B&B guests, so the B&B label means what it says. The fridge for the self service bar is on the floor several feet away with a limited selection and no prices. The Mountain (Top) View is there, but over the roof of a different part of the property in a Fawlty-esque manner. Breakfast was adequate but fell short of the bar it set itself. When there are only 6 covers and food takes 20 minutes to come after your time slot then you expect it to be freshly cooked, when the menu heralds the quality of the produce then that further sets an expectation. Standard wholesaler fare which has clearly been keeping warm underwhelms.
