Altstadt Hotel Krone Luzern

My reservation was made 6 months in advance and held with a credit card. The card was approved at the time of booking. Two weeks before our trip, Visa issued me a new credit card number due to suspicious activity on my card (which happens frequently). On the day before my arrival, the hotel apparently tried running the old credit card number again, which was declined. At 8:06 AM on the day before my arrival, the hotel sent me ONE email giving me until 6:00pm (less than 10 hours) to provide a new card number. I did not see that one email because 1) I was already on vacation hiking in the mountains and 2) I didn’t have daily access to email to limit international data charges. The hotel did not call or text me to warn me that it would be canceling my reservation on the morning of arrival, nor did it even send a follow-up email. Luckily we found other accommodations nearby despite being peak summer tourism season.

Noisy

The hotel is at a good location in the old town. Hotel is clean. However, it was noisy due to construction across the street. My bathroom shower/shampoo soap bottle was not filled so I had no soap to use while showering and couldn’t call front desk because it’s past 9 pm. 😣

Great location; very good breakfast! Janine served GF bread to my husband and he was happy! USB plugs in room were not working but we were fine. Good sized room; bathroom had a tub! I’m not a fan of the combined shampoo and body wash; I missed having some lotion and conditioner.

It was a lovely property to stay at. The lady at front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious and had all the necessary amenities/toiletries. The view from my room was gorgeous as it looked out into Old Town. The one factor I didn't really like was that the cleaning team starts very early in the day (around maybe 8am) and the noise would echo through the hall to my room. I wanted to catch up on some sleep but wasn't able to due to the noise. The hotel location was very convenient. I would still want to come back to stay at this hotel the next time i visit Lucerne.

This hotel is in the center of town. It was perfect! we walked everywhere. It is about 5 - 10 min walk from the train station. Very easy. The hotel is clean, comfortable & just perfect. Our rooms overlooked a plaza but were still very quiet. Staff was helpful and pleasant. We loved this hotel!!

Perfect location, right in old town, lots to see and do.plenty of restaurants close by. I think the hotel was converted from an old house. The room is quite muggy and small insects fly in when you open the window. Overall it was a very good hotel.

Reception staff behavior – I found the front desk staff to be quite rude and unhelpful during check-in and throughout my stay. I expected more courteous and professional service. Lack of air conditioning – The room was uncomfortably warm, and I was surprised to find that the hotel did not provide air conditioning or any effective alternative. Uncomfortable mattress – The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

Nice hotel, centrally located in the old town. Convenient to everything. Our room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast (fee) was superb with an awesome attendant. Staff was professional and helpful.
