Óntico Urban Design Hotel

Great location in the historic centre of Merida. Close to bars and restaurants and sights. The room itself was small but modern. The pool area is amazing with lounge chairs and lots of shade. Highly recommend staying here

A hotel with a cool design and a pleasant atmosphere. Very nicely located, close to the centre. You can easily get around on foot. The neighbourhood is safe. There was no problem stopping near the entrance and unloading our luggage. The staff were friendly and helpful if they understood what you were asking for, because unfortunately, their English was generally very poor. Clean, although some things, such as the blinds in the bathroom, could have done with more cleaning ;) The room was cleaned every day. The beautiful swimming pool shown in the photos belongs to the neighbouring “sister” hotel but is available without any problems. Pool towels are provided by the hotel. The hotel does not have its own car park, but they indicate a parking space on private property, unguarded but with a lockable gate , quite close by, at a cost of 160 pesos per day. Breakfast is available, although it is modest. You can choose between scrambled eggs served with toast and bean paste, pancakes and fruit with a small amount of yoghurt. You can only choose one of the options. Coffee, water and juice are available :)

The inconvenience was that the staff spoke very little or no English. However, in a “design hotel”, easy communication is expected. One very nice and committed lady serving breakfast is definitely not enough. Sometimes we waited a long time, even though only three tables were occupied. I don't know how she manages when the hotel is full... Unfortunately, sometimes there was no hot water.

My stay was unfortunately disappointing. The hot water in the shower was not working, which was a significant inconvenience. When I raised this issue with staff, I was told that a maintenance person would come to resolve it, but no one ever arrived. After my stay, when I followed up about the issue, I was told that this had not happened.. In addition, there was a clear lack of privacy in the pool area due to tours being conducted through the space, with people openly taking photos of guests. Overall, this made the experience uncomfortable and far below the level of privacy and comfort expected.
