Ramada by Wyndham Savannah Gateway

The pictures online did not match the property. The beds were supposed to be queen and they were full size. The bathroom and bath sink did not drain properly. The soap available was Dove, which is not real soap but rather a beauty bar. Most of the rooms were empty or in shoddy conditions. The staff was polite and accommodating across multiple shifts.

I had made a reservation for this hotel since I was going to be visiting Savannah. Most Wyndham properties let you check in online but not this one. I tried to call a few times to let them know I’d be arriving late in the night since I was driving from south Florida, but nobody answered the phone. They charged my card before I got there. It took the guy forever to find the reservation. He was clearly high and even looked disheveled. He was getting frustrated and just started cussing and acting irate, like a typical crack head. Needless to say, we didn’t stay. Which I’m kinda glad, the lobby was dumpy which is never a good indication of the rest of the property. Ramada used to be considered a nice brand, but for sure this was the most unkept looking hotel in the area. I’d recommend any of the other hotels in the same area. Naturally nobody wants to sleep in a roachy room, but most definitely you don’t want to have to deal with an incoherent and hostile front desk employee to get to said room.

Room was filthy. Hair and dirt all over the toilet and shower. Toilet paper in the toilet when we got there. Had not been vacuumed or dusted. Reeked of cigarette smoke when it was supposed to be non smoking. No hot water and the coffee pot had water still in it with green slime growing in it. The breakfast was just as bad as the cleanliness. Would not recommend to anyone

The room carpet smells to bad and the shower when I open the water the things the was broken and the bed smells to bad no paper toilet and no service to the room the was a really bad service not goog this hotel I don't recommend no body this hotel and the ice the was broken too really bad hotel not again..

I spent 20 minutes waiting for a room key because the machine shut down and the clerk didn’t know how to reset it. I was also charged by the hotel after I paid for it through Hotels.com so now I have to fight that battle. I never got a room key, the clerk let me in with a master key and said “if you need to go anywhere, just leave your door cracked.” I’m glad all I needed for the night was a bed.

The staff was nice and tried very hard. But the problem is the facility itself. It is old and not well care for. The outside grounds are covered with hundreds of cigarettes butts. The concrete pathways are dirty and cracked. The “breakfast room” is a creepy back room with virtually nothing to offer. The room shower curtain was impossible to keep closed. The lighting was inadequate. The “bed cover” was inadequate. And last but certainly not least the room door was very old, very difficult to open both from inside and outside. We would NEVER stay there again!
