The Wayfinder is a gem of a hotel in Newport. Rooms and lobby are stylish and spacious. Staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water in the bathroom. Parking was plentiful and convenient. The exercise room was well equipped. A grocery store and Walmart are a few blocks away along a busy street. We were here for an event at the Naval Training School and the location was absolutely ideal for this. Personally I liked that we were a mile or two from the heart of the shopping, nightlife, and historical areas, because it was quieter and easier to park, etc. However, you’d need to plan on a taxi or rideshare if you want to paint the town red. The distance is walkable but the major streets are not very pedestrian friendly in this part of town. Be aware of the “destination fee” which at this time adds $25/night to the room rate. I felt this should be reduced or eliminated in the off season since the pool isn’t open and the weather is too iffy to use the bikes. The other amenities it supposedly covers are just typical items available in hotels like WiFi and ice water dispensers in the lobby. We saw a lot of housekeeping staff who were extremely nice but our room was only made up once in 4 nights. We had to ask for additional towels and in-room coffee supplies every day. That was ok for us but not what I expected at a nicer property like this. All in all it was a great stay and I would come back to the Wayfinder when visiting the Newport, especially when visiting the Naval Station.

We stayed at the wayfinder for parents weekend for URI. Everything was great from friendly and helpful staff to great food and drinks (Dan the bartender makes the best cocktails!) Clean, new rooms and pretty and calm hangout spaces in the lobby make for a great stay.

The friendly service makes the difference here. The location was close to stop and shop, Walmart and other essential stores. The room was good, not great. The one bathroom sink, sparse lighting, and dingy hallways scream 2-3 star (Priceline says its a 4 star). If your up for paying half the rate of downtown Newport, have ample free parking, and be close to non-boutique shopping, this works great. Breakfast at the Little Clam was crazy good.

The location was good and off the main highways. The receptionist was very pleasant and welcoming. The restaurant was lovely with nice staff.

Nothing

The room door didn’t close all the way. There was a clump of hair on the tub drain. Thr bookkng.com rooms always seem to have some sort of issue or problem.
