Te Awa Cottages

Simply and minimally furnished and very clean made for an easy short stay. Had a couple of minor glitches which sadly weren’t fixed during the stay.

Loved this property. Amazing views that we couldn’t get enough off. Extremely clean and smelt fresh. Large lounge room, a nice deck to watch the view and the night sky. We even managed to view the southern lights one night. Very special! It’s not in the town, but we had a car and this was not a problem. This was actually a plus for us as it was the busy period.

Great little cabin in Franz Josef. The views were wonderful, and you wouldn’t know that you’re close to the main road. Easy to check in, appreciated the air conditioning and the fly screens on the windows (this seems to be uncommon in NZ, so we really appreciated it here). Beautiful sunset one night and star gazing the next night. Appreciated the board games!

The bed and pillows weren’t to our personal comfort preference, but they were reasonable! The kitchen is quite basic, so we didn’t cook whilst we were there (but it was as described on the listing, so no surprises). It is a little bit out of town, so we drove in each time rather than walked, which was fine for us but others may want to be able to walk to restaurants. There was no internet connection on the TV, only free to air channels (not surprising given the remote location, and the wifi was good so we could use our own devices).
