Columba Hotel Inverness by Compass Hospitality

The hotel is a traditional hotel which has seen better days. However, it is well placed in the city and it is easy to get around.

The nearest parking is at the Cathedral. However, that is popular so it is not always possible to park there.

This place is so dirty. Mirrors smeared. Dirty paintwork. Dirty skirting boards. The window in the room not only had flaking paintwork but the wood was rotten. The furniture is shabby. Everywhere is dusty. There is a lift but your still have to negotiate a lot of stairs. Even the fire doors in the corridor had really greasy, dirty marks on them, where people had pushed the door open.

The location on the river is very lovely especially if you pay for a room with a view! Daytime reception staff were warm and very helpful.

No soap in dispenser in shower so had to wash with shampoo. Only minuscule amount of this left so couldn’t wash hair as well. These things happen I guess but an indifferent response from reception with more interest in finding out who was responsible. No immediate attention to the solution until an hour later when replenishment had to be requested. No water glasses in room. Breakfast room is soulless and offerings ordinary.

Its location on the river was very pleasant.

It is an historic older building which is showing its age. Our room opened to an inner area which included some very noisy nesting seagulls and apparently near where glass bottles get dumped for disposal. There was an armoire in our room with a broken hinge which made it pretty useless.

Hotel is a little dated, but that doesn't stop it being exceptionally clean
