Capitol Reef Resort

Close to Capitol Reef and the restaurants in Torrey. Room was comfortable. Nice balcony with view of the mountains and some cows wandering by.

The location is perfect. We had a balcony room & the view was amazing!!! The large hot tub was nice too after a long day of hiking. The hotel needs some maintenance. But overall I would stay here again.

The property needs an update & some maintenance. Our toilet seat was falling off the seat. The balcony had a large hole under the eaves. Some kind of animal was scratching around in the wall below it. Both our front door & balcony looked like someone had tried to break in.

We stayed for 2 nights and our room was not cleaned at all during our stay. A/C stopped working in the middle of the night. Staff was not very considerate to guest issues.

Beautiful scenery, proximity to Capitol Reef, and a very clean cabin were the highlights. Staff interactions were generally professional. The cabins themselves, however, felt more rustic than premium. One factor future guests should carefully consider is cabin placement. It’s somewhat pot luck which cabin you get, so if booking a two-bedroom cabin expecting a quieter or more private retreat, be aware that one cabin sits immediately beside the resort’s communal teepee fire pit. Based on the resort map provided online and again at check-in, we expected more separation between the cabin and this area than existed in practice. What became clear during the stay was that the fire pit functioned as an active evening gathering point for guests across the property — people socializing, gathering around the continuously lit fire, watching sports, and stopping to view or photograph the teepees. In reality, the fire pit and seating area became the foreground of the cabin experience, creating a far more communal and active atmosphere than we anticipated for a premium-priced two-bedroom cabin. At roughly $500 per night, the experience felt difficult to reconcile with the price point. If you enjoy being immersed in a lively, social atmosphere, this location may suit you. If you are booking for tranquility, privacy, or a quieter cabin experience, I would strongly recommend confirming cabin location before booking.
