Donington Manor Hotel

On arriving at this hotel we noticed a strange musty smell in reception. We had a short wait outside the building for the night porter on our arrival following our late flight. The porter seemed unaware about our arrival and seemed flustered to find our two rooms as we were traveling with friends. We were given room 5 on the first floor. The room was ok and smelled much better than the reception area. Room had all we required for our stay. Only 2 sticking points were no milk for our tea and coffee and the bed was extremely hard and could have benefited from a new mattress or a mattress topper. Breakfast was good. Bacon cooked from a grill and was very tasty. We were disappointed to only receive 2 slices of toast between 4 people. I expect this could have been rectified had we mentioned this to the waiting staff.

One night stay, twin room for just me, had everything I needed, bed was comfy , no complaints, slept well , continental breakfast was fine to start the day .

On arrival the reception was locked. A piece of paper spelling my name wrong was sellotaped to the reception window telling me to let myself in. The room had stains on the walls, stains behind the headboard, the carpet wasn’t hoovered. The bedsheets were ripped. We had one glass between 2 people and the TV had no signal so didn’t pick up any channels. Nobody answered the hotel phone and nobody answered the emergency mobile number given. I’ve stayed in many places and given its great location, it has to be one of the worst stays ever. The mattress also felt like it had been slept on by a hippo every night for 20 years. After a long drive from Wiltshire for a night away as a couple, it feels more like a punishment than a treat. I wouldn’t even give this room 1 star. I can’t even rate the staff service because I didn’t actually get chance to speak to anyone. Steer clear at all costs.

I was invited to a friend’s daughters 21st birthday celebration last night and I must say what a perfect venue for a special occasion like this! Beautiful looking, food was amazing and the manager couldn’t do enough to make you feel so welcome. Will always keep this place in mind for future special events.

Have stayed here numerous times over the years whilst attending Donington Circuit and have always enjoyed my visits. James and his staff are extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. If you want a 5* book into one of the very expensive and bland hotels beside the airport. If you want a bit of old time history, character, warmth and meeting people, then the Manor Hotel is for you!

Visited the hotel for a pre-booked Sunday lunch. The menu offered 2 or 3 courses. My husband and I enjoyed the latter. We were made to feel very welcome , the staff were very smart, polite and attentive. We had drinks at the bar as we were a little early . The restaurant was very festive with Christmas music playing in the background. Our starters were of a good standard, my husband had home made vegetable soup and bread , which he enjoyed . I had hosin duck with salad dressing, it was perfect, very tender.. We both chose the festive turkey and trimmings , vegetables were cooked to perfection and the cauliflower cheese was delicious. We both had pudding , sticky toffee sponge with ice-cream for my husband and apple pie and custard for myself . The pie was perfect , full of sliced apples and the pastry the best I had sampled ! Thank you for a very pleasant meal , we shall return !

Had the most delicious afternoon tea. This was a gift for my wife’s birthday and the experience was great from the moment we arrived. The staff were friendly and restaurant where the tea was served was decked out with Christmas decorations and Christmas crackers on the table. The selection of sandwiches was for every taste. The cakes was the most delicious verity. All in all a great experience.

This place has gone downhill. I recently booked a 3 course meal through Groupon, and had a dreadful experience with the reception staff. Initially they (the reception staff not groupon) cancelled the booking, then after telephoning they said customer bookings are honoured but customers need to telephone in. Then another person lost the diary and booking so wanted me to email him my original booking. On the third occasion all I got was grief while the man complained at Groupon and blamed everyone else but himself. Apparently they are losing money on every booking, so dont want any customers. Its a ridiculous situation and just terrible to have poor customer service like this. I really feel for the staff but they do need to get things sorted out with Groupon.

Went for Sunday dinner on a groupon deal, very nice and staff were very good, all 3 courses were lovely especially for the price we paid,Beautiful place
