"Less expensive than the hotel next door was its best feature, but a good, clean, safe hotel."

clean, comfortable room, easy on/off the main road

the free hot food at breakfast looked completely inedible: fake eggs, heavily-processed and re-heated frozen potatoes, and "sausage gravy" that looked like canned mushroom soup with dark brown lumps in it.
