Guest House Amoreiras

We were already very stressed because of our flight delay, and unfortunately the check-in process made things even worse. We were told that after midnight we wouldn’t be allowed to check in, and we had to insist several times to finally be accepted. On top of that, we had to pay an extra €20 for a delay completely beyond our control. We finally managed to check in around midnight, but we would have greatly appreciated more understanding and flexibility

The host was a good communicator and the woman who let me in was very friendly (although I arrived 5 minutes before the 22:00 cut-off).

Admittedly, I should have guessed that the description of a "window onto the hallway" meant "no window to the outside world." Alas, I was surprised and frankly annoyed to find myself sleeping a room probably designed to be storage space. It didn't help that the door is fit rather loosely in its frame and the "window" to the hallway has no blinds. This meant that every time one of the other guests used the hallway (to access the bathroom or kitchen, presumably), I was woken up by the noise and the light. Again, perhaps I could have expected as much from the description. What remains inexcusable however, is that, by my estimation, the room has seen a few tough years since the photos were taken (walls are no longer white, no "art" on the walls, just a few holes where some nails had been), and that mattress springs left quite an impression on my lower back. Perhaps the place is nice from the vantage point of the other rooms, but I would really caution against booking the single "interior" room.

Perfect location for a few days in Lisbon. Feels like a homestay

We had a great stay here. Emilia was so kind and helpful. The location is great, very easy to get around to all of the sites!
