"Very disappointing"

4.0

This is smart by island standards, but it was a triumph of style over substance on the night we went to their restaurant. I can only conclude that they had problems that night. It is reasonable to expect to be served at the same time as one's dinner companion and not several minutes later. A waiter/waitress is usually present during the meal somewhere within eye-catching distance to respond to requests. A plate of sardine pasta is usually served hot. It is unpleasant to have to carry your own plate of food through a smart restaurant to the kitchen to get it heated up. Reheated food should be better than just warm. It was meant to be a treat and it turned out to be the worst meal and eating experience of the whole 12 days touring around. Sicily does a lot, lot better than we had that night for less money and with more imagination and love. We left at the earliest opportunity and the evening took a turn for the better. We had a great time watching the locals dancing in the town square to their local band. Enormous fun!

"Terrific place on an terrific island"

10.0

My wife and I visited this boutique hotel for two nights. It is centrally located- a short few minute walk from the arriving ferry drop off and also a minute walk to the shops, restaurants, bars, etc that are the center of Favignana. The owner/ hostess was friendly and helpful- in addition to suggestions and directions she ordered for me the delivery of a scooter at the hotel for the day. Our room was terrific; the breakfast and service were superb. We also had dinner there one night; while a little bit more expensive than a number of restaurants there it was well worth it. The food was fantastic- the dishes were a bit unique. And the owner recommended a red wine which was the best we had on our 10 day trip to western Sicily. Very highly recommended- a true value all around.

"Wonderful stay"

10.0

We stayed at The Eagadi Albergo 3 nights and had a wonderful time. They gave us the room with the terrace on the 5th floor. It was a good climb up the marble staircase but worth it. The views from the terrace were amazing. The room and bathroom were lovely with nice linens and service provided every day. Lovely to return after a day of bike riding to the beautiful cliffs and sea. There is a bike rental right in town. We had dinner there the first night. It was good but pricey. We liked just sitting in a simple cafe with pizza and wine and ice cream later. Favininana is a beautiful island and we hope to return someday.

"Food is not bad but overpriced"

6.0

We went for dinner on August 29, 2012 after having spent almost a week in Favignana. The island is beautiful with smashing beaches but very touristic. Thus, restaurants do not have to try hard and offer the standard "pesce spada variations" (we have eaten much better on the Sicilian mainland). The Egadi restaurant is probably the best in Favignana but only in relations to the standards there. We had smoked pesce spada with orange as a starter: three thin slices of fish (about 40 grams max - I worked as a cook and have some experience in guessing weights) and one slice of orange - nice but not a big deal. Involtini di pesce spada - a maincourse - was also less than 100 grams of fish (plus a filling). Not bad but for 18 Euros just robbery. The cannoli for desert were pre-prepared which means the ricotta chese was not filled in immediately before serving so that the cannolo was soaked. This is an absolute no-go is sicily. The icecream was an industrial product. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the owner acts with much pretense but 100 Euros for two and leaving hungry is not OK.

"Excellent choice"

10.0

We spent three nights in April 2012. Extremely positive experience! The hotel is clean and really nice; all details are carefully designed with plenty of taste. The owners couldn't be more welcoming and friendly. The hotel is conveniently located very near to the central square and the harbour. In spring, with very few people around, it is also very peaceful. Breakfast is gorgeous!!!

"Probably the best stay in Egadi..."

10.0

On our way to Marettimo we decided to stay 1 night in Favignana. Following Debby `s Papyn travel advise( from Sabato supplement from the Belgium Tijd newspaper) to Egadi Islands, we decided to stay in Hotel Egadi. 6 minutes walk from the harbor, close to the small church this is the best spot for your Favignana stay. Cause we only stayed 1 night we went for the attic room, with a great view over the town incl a nice terras with 2 sunbeds. We had diner in the hotel`s restaurant with an excellent price/quality ratio, great wines and cozy atmosphere. I can comfortably advise this hotel to anyone wanting a great stay in Egadi!

"The perfect place to stay in Favignana"

10.0

This is a great restaurant with about 15 rooms above. Our room was large, modern, had a fantastic bathroom, mini-bar, aircon and a great view over the harbour and the Norman castle looking down on us from the top of the hill opposite. Breakfast in the restaurant was wonderful and we ate there one evening too. The restaurant must rate as one of the best on the island. We loved the island - though we understand that July and August are very busy - and much hotter. Hire a bicycle for €3/day to travel around to some beautiful spots and fantastic beaches.

"Lovely sleepy island with great food!"

8.0

I only managed to stay one night on Favignana and chose the Albergo Egadi after reading the lonely planet guide and yes it is a very good hotel with charming italian and french owners and good food, somewhat more refined than other food to be had in Sicily. I guess that is the french influence. But it is quite pricey 180 euros 1 night half board. The island is very easy to get to we travelled from Marsala but you can also go from Trapani, and it is so sleepy with lovely bays. The town is tiny but full of small restaurants and tourist shops which was nice to see as Marsala and Trapani are working towns and this was MUCH more laid back.

"Very nice room"

8.0

I was on Favignana in early May, and found the island very quiet. I imagine in July and August there would be more tourist infrastructure, but in May you would have to take anything you need (umbrella, chair, drinks!) to the beach with you. Also, if you go to hike be aware that there is no shade. Although I wasn’t that keen on the island, the Albergo Egadi was a good place to stay with an excellent location in town. I had a very nice room, with washed blue walls, and blue chiffon curtains framing a view out to sea, and a lovely bathroom with a clean tile floor and huge shower. Breakfast was very Italian, which was a problem for me as I need protein at meals. I ate dinner at the hotel one night, but I thought 40 euros a bit high, although the food was good (mostly tuna) and plentiful.
