This property is beautiful! The views and water are amazing! The owners of the property are wonderful along with the friendly staff. My husband and I will be going back next year. The food plan is well worth it. Everything was delicious!

"Fantastic hotel and resort"

10.0

We just returned from our latest visit to Bermuda and Pompano Beach Club is the only place for us. Where to begin? If you’re looking for super-fancy, sleek and a loud New York vibe, this isn’t the place for you. On the other hand, if you’re looking for warm, friendly, inviting and comfortable, you’ve found it. The location is great - nestled on the highly desirable south shore, it’s about 40 minutes from the airport, but less than 30 minutes to both Dockyard and Hamilton. If you’re so inclined, you can rent a minicar or scooter on property, but busses or ferries are also a great way to see the island - and the hotel will give you a lift to either one a few minutes from the hotel. The rooms are comfortable and homey and, if you choose one with ocean views, the views are spectacular. There are two full service restaurants on property - the slightly more upscale Ocean Grill and the Cedar Room. The food at both is excellent, with a nice variety of choices. Dinner on the meal plan is a good deal and includes five courses. Don’t miss the weekly swizzle party, which includes non-stop swizzles and lots of yummy appetizers. It’s often followed by a delicious barbecue. Pompano boasts one of the best and most beautiful hotel beaches in all of Bermuda. Smooth sand and gentle waves. Everything you might want or need is right there, from chairs to umbrellas to noodles/floats, plus there’s a bar. Just steps away you can rent snorkel equipment or a kayak. If you prefer the pool, they have a very nice small one with its own bar area. There’s a decent fitness center, pickleball courts, and even a spa, hair salon and game room. There’s nightly entertainment, including a DJ, a pianist and more. There’s always a list of daily activities (snorkel cruise, deep sea fishing, cocktail cruise) you can sign up for right at the front desk and a top-notch golf course (Port Royal, where the PGA holds an annual tournament) literally next door. The staff, many of whom have been with Pompano for years, are warm and friendly. The owners, brothers Larry and Tom Lamb, are ever-present on property and work hard to make sure that everyone is comfortable and happy. Yes, there are steps (as you can see from the photographs, the resort is built into the side of a substantial hill), but the hotel staff will cheerfully give you a lift anywhere on property (minus the beach, where it isn’t possible) and some rooms feature no steps at all. I can’t recommend Pompano Beach Club highly enough. Already thinking about our next visit.

"Ocean and Beach Lovers Perfect Spot"

8.0

My wife and I just returned from a 5 day stay. Overall our stay was great. The location is amazing. From every angle you see nothing but bright turquoise water and the beach is amazing. Chairs are both on the beach right in front and nestled within the rock outcroppings. You can wade in the water for 3 football fields out and they have docks, water sports gear and rafts to hang on. The pool is nothing really to speak of … this is really as it says a beach resort. If you like a large amazing pool go elsewhere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The owners are present and active. We played Port Royal golf twice and they shuttle you right there and back. The food was solid the entire stay (breakfast omelets are amazing). Most of the servers were incredibly friendly and efficient (George was awesome). Excellent wine list and honestly reasonably priced. The fitness equipment is up to date (2 new Pelotons and newer treads). Our room was good… mostly what you expect in an island setting … lots of tile and it was clean and comfortable. The views were… wow. I agree with some of the other reviews on the property needing some care and that is why I didn’t give 5 stars. Our stairwell and hallway hadn’t been swept the entire time we were there (lots of dead bugs lying there). There is paint or plaster peeling off in places very visible in common areas and some mildew can be seen around the property. The pool area and bar are really dated compared to other places I’ve been. Our patio had weeds growing up through the pavers and one of our chairs was broken. It was really hot in the afternoon and the AC in the common areas was really weak and it was hot in the lobby and bar area. All fixable. Our only other suggestion is to upgrade the bartending. The bartenders didn’t have that fun vibe and were sort of disinterested… very slow and drinks were meh. This is key for a resort for the vibe and would allow them to sell more drinks. Net net… if you are a beach fan who loves the ocean and its wildlife, want amazing views and enjoys a more casual place with a friendly familylike staff this is your place. If you are more particular for details, like a newer property and are a pool aficionado it may not be.

"Wonderful family experience"

10.0

We just returned from a wonderful five night stay - our first time at Pompano, and hopefully not our last. We had the best time, spending hours upon hours in the beautiful calm ocean waters, drinking delicious pina coladas, playing games in the lobby with floor to ceiling ocean views and eating decadent four course dinners (I’m still dreaming about the gazpacho and surf and turf.) My kids also really enjoyed the arcade games in the game room. Pompano has such warm vibes- I heard someone say that 70% of guests while we were there were repeat customers, and there were several multi-generational families like ours visiting.

"A Candid Review: Pompano Beach Club, Bermuda"

2.0

It really does come with a heavy heart that I have to write this review. I feel that so much of our world is taken over with corporate entities that I truly want to always support family-owned businesses. I think there's a lot to be said when there's a history with a piece of property, but also, having a business in my own family, I know that it takes hard work, dedication, but also the ability to see when you need to make changes. That, unfortunately, seems to be the main story of the Pompano Beach Club in Bermuda. Larry and Tom are the two brothers running this property that has been in their family for quite some time. It's my understanding that it may be getting too much for them to run, or so I was told by some of the local island folks. This property could absolutely be exquisite. The location is like no other, but it is simply not well-maintained. The rooms smell like mildew, and to a degree that it's genuinely unhealthy. You can tell that they need an overhaul and a major renovation. The pool looks very dirty, and it's my understanding that a child went to the bathroom in the pool and it was removed, but there was no treatment to the water, and guests were allowed to immediately go back in. The water is very murky, as is the water in the hot tubs, and they need a good cleaning. Most of the time in the evening, you'd never see anyone in the hot tubs because they just looked dirty. The hotel also does not do anything to control the birds, and to say that there are bird droppings everywhere would not even be giving the statement justice. The Cedar Room is completely covered in bird poop, and you can visibly see the birds landing in the dishes, on the tables, and in the food when there's a buffet. It is absolutely disgusting. Even the Ocean Room has bird poop on the walls, although they tried to do a little bit better of a job to keep it off the chairs. All of the chairs on the outdoor patio are covered in bird poop, and they don't clean them, ever. It's understandable that there are birds, but I've never been to a hotel where the indoor and outdoor dining tables, furniture, walls, etcetera, are covered in bird poop. There also seems to be a seaweed issue, which naturally the hotel can't control, but the beach should be cleaned off every morning. Furthermore, there should have been a warning that with the seaweed comes Portuguese man-of-war, because multiple guests were stung. Now, for the positives: The staff at the hotel is wonderful. They are all friendly and welcoming. The food is also very good, but it's difficult to eat when you're dodging birds pooping on you or when you're seeing the birds landing on your plate or in the buffet. It's just not sanitary. Many of the guests that were staying at the property had been there years ago or maybe just a couple of years ago, and the general sentiment was that the property is going downhill. My suggestion would be that they let a management company take over and truly transform this property. The staff is excellent, the food is great, but if you want to attract the right clientele and have return guests, you need to do updates. Your rooms cannot smell like mildew, and you cannot have bird poop all over your restaurants. The pools need to look inviting. Like one woman said, she had been there 30 years ago, and she said it was "night and day."

"A night to remember!"

10.0

If you’re ever in Bermuda on July 4th, run don’t walk, to Pompano for their amazing barbecue buffet. Amazing seafood of every kind, delicious sushi , creative salads and, to cap it all a whole Maine lobster to go with your steak, ribs, chicken etc. If you have space do visit the dessert table, fresh strawberries and cream, pecan pie and all manner of tempting delights. Hosted by the Lamb family and their wonderful team of dining room staff you will not be disappointed!

"Pompano Beach Club"

4.0

I have visited Bermuda on several occasions. I have been to Grotto Bay, Southampton Pricess, Elbow Beach, a private home and even the Sonesta when it was standing. This was my 1st trip to Pompano Beach Club. The only positive things I can share about this place are the following: The magnificent views, it is quiet at night and the many wonderful people who work there. Keep in mind, this is a given. You are on beautiful island and I have never met a hostile Bermudian. Unfortunately, everything else was well below what was expected. Here is the story in a nutshell. The owners, although very nice, simply refuse to put any money in this place and it shows everywhere you look on the property. So, if you are okay with old bathrooms that have rusted and pitted fixtures, stained grout in the shower, old bedroom furniture and broken deck sliders maybe this is the place for you. If you like dirty walls and walkways in desperate need of paint, filthy doors and doorways, and having to deal with birds who inhabit the dining area pooping on tables and chairs where you are seated, maybe, just maybe, this is the place for you. If you like a beach with piles of seaweed bulldozed at each corner with old dirty lounge chairs maybe, this is the place for you. I could go on but I think you get the picture. I am thinking the owners are waiting for someone to buy them out but who knows. They obviously are not putting any money into the place. Read the reviews. Plenty of visitors love this place and come here year after year. I will never come back. I wasn't expecting the Ritz Carlton but I couldn't get past siiting in bird poop in their dining room and then realizing it was everywhere!. That was my breaking point. Did I mention, I paid 800.00 a night for this experience. Live and learn.

"Great Place to Have a Family Vacation"

10.0

We took our family of 10 to celebrate our 55th Anniversary since 50th was COVID. We, also, celebrated our youngest grandson's 11th birthday while we there. Looking for an incredible choice of where to go from East Coast USA, this is it. Son and family flew in from MA, Daughter and family flew from Westchester and we flew from Newark. No long flights for anyone. We were supported even before we booked by their Reservation Department Stacy, and owners Tom and Larry Lamb. When we arrived we were given a tour of the resort, questions were asked even before we asked. Shi and others covering the front desk were terrific. We had a Modified American Plan which is definitely the way to go as they provided very lovely continental breakfast early in the a.m., then alternating days of buffet or served breakfasts in the Cedar Room and dinners were a five-course feast that changed daily in the Cedar Room or a reserved meal in the Ocean Grill with a set menu except Monday night when they have an amazing rum swizzle party then a barbecue that included everything and anything you can imagine plus a seafood, salad and dessert buffet. We had running tabs on the rooms so the preteens and teens could get food or drink without needing to carry cash. There is a game room with a billiard table and ping pong table, fitness center, beautiful private beach with a bar, pool with hot tub and kiddie pool near one of the bars, another bar in the lounge, evening entertainment every night and lots of board games to play in many spaces inside and out. It was always possible to find lounge chairs, umbrellas and more. Towels were plentiful for the pool and beach. Water stations were available around the site. There are tennis courts and pickleball courts on site. What made this most special was the way we could be together and apart, the teens were able to be independent of us and safe. Our family all agreed this was the best vacation we have taken in many years. The resort provided a shuttle to the bus stop so we could go into Hamilton or the Dockyard easily. They also helped us arrange activities off the resort. We were not the only family group that week, there were at least 2 others with 10 or more people plus smaller family groups.

"Great place to stay!"

10.0

This was our first trip to Bermuda and we did not know what to expect. I did some research and found Pompano Beach Club resort and saw that it had an overwhelming number of great reviews. Some people said the decor was dated, but everyone agreed on how friendly and helpful the staff were. That had a huge influence on my decision to book a room at Pompano. Upon arrival, we were greeted promptly (after using a pre-arranged shuttle to get us there from the airport) and while our luggage was being taken to our room, we were given a tour explaining how the two restaurants work, where the pool towels are, how to get to the beach, and a lot more. Without exception, every area we walked in during our tour, any staff member who was in the room greeted us with a smile, a hello, a welcome, or something. Meals were plentiful and delicious with a different menu daily. The Monday night bbq was amazing! All staff was friendly and attentive (shout out to Lynn!). We never used the pool, but you have to pass thru that area to get the pool towels (which can be taken to the beach--even if you go to a public beach somewhere on the island) and it was always tidy and clean. The private beach at the resort is fairly small when compared to the beaches I am used to in AL and FL, but beach chairs are provided, as well as umbrellas and some other things like pool noodles and floats--all of which is part of the resort amenities. It was so nice not to be nickel and dimed for everything. There is also a bar at the beach where you can get both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (charged to your room). The water is absolutely gorgeous!! I cannot say enough about the scenery--it is stunning. The front desk staff were extremely helpful in explaining the transportation options when we wanted to leave the property and go see the sights on the island. There were always at least 1-2 people at the front desk so we never had to wait to speak with someone if we had questions. The only thing we were not aware of before we went is how many steps we would have to climb to get to and from the beach and our room, and the ice maker was far away from our room. We managed fine and it was good exercise for us, but some might find it a challenge. I cannot say enough good things about Pompano, from one of the owners himself bringing us extra towels the night we arrived, to Lynn in the dining room wrapping a muffin up for my daughter to take with her, to Allison and the front desk staff going above and beyond to get us a taxi to the airport the day we left because there was a mix up and our's didn't show up. These are seemingly small things in and of themselves, but they all helped to contribute to the relaxed and family feel of the resort. I could go on all day about how much we enjoyed our stay, but I'll just say that we whole heartedly recommend Pompano Beach Club
