Great Hotel, good service, with courteous staff.

Very clean, very quiet and comfortable.

Nice clean hotel - friendly staff

Probably 3 years old. Very clean, friendly staff, larger than normal room - ours was King bed and still lots of room. Had comfortable settee, desk chair, and two small hassocks on wheels. Bathroom roomy, bright, and fully equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body creme, hand creme. Small fridge and microwave in room and very accessible, even for elder people like me. Free parking on perimeter of hotel and a portico for loading/unloading during winter weather. We were there in May, so temperatures approaching 70F in daytime and The Dalles is in a low rainfall area, probably not quite the Washington dessert by definition. The Dalles offers a lot of family-friendly restaurants and some interesting museums. Our actual destination was 20 miles away in Hood River, OR and White Salmon, WA but the HIE was unavailable for us in Hood River. Has a swimming pool. Has two coffee machines that one selects type of coffee and then wait for the Costa Rica coffee bean to be ground, brewed and dribbled into the cup, along with any milk or creme product you select for foam or cappuccino. Breakfast was standard for HIE hotel - this one had choice of cheese omelet or a vegetable omelet, some medium quality bacon, turkey sausage, normal toasts and bagels, juices, fresh fruits, etc. This HIE and the one in Moses Lake, WA know how to mix their scrambled eggs to look like real ones - that probably on next day's menu with some sausage. We would return to this hotel if Hood River HIE is full when we are using free points or free nights. My fav hotel in Hood River is the Hood River Best Western Inn - see my review on that for all the reasons and benefits.

Very quiet even on the main floor.

The handicap room shower needs a longer shower curtain. Too much water gets on the floor. Also, the lighting is really poor over the sink in the bathroom. Also, one of the little side lights by the bed did not have a lightbulb.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way home from a five day rafting trip. I booked the room about two months before the trip. We received a pre check-in document to sign before we arrived that had a tone I might have expected if I applied for a loan. When I arrived at the hotel, the woman at the front desk requested my ID and “the credit card I made the reservation with”, which I couldn’t easily supply. All of our gear from the river trip, including my wallet, had been pitched randomly into the back of the car so we could clear the boat ramp area. My husband offered his ID and driver’s license,but we were told this was unacceptable. I’ve no idea why since they would run the card anyway. When I complained, the receptionist popped behind the wall in the reception area, and apparently did get permission to run the card. When I asked if the points for the stay would be credited to my Rewards account, I was told “no” because the credit card wasn’t mine. I asked to speak to the manager (the slot in the Manager of the Day sign was empty, unsurprisingly) but was told they were busy, even though it was obvious that they were right behind the wall listening. The invisible manager finally approved the points for my stay, but never called as I requested. Why this drama was necessary I have no idea. The entire interaction felt like a traffic stop for a suspected felon. As far as the hotel itself, the facility was relatively new; did not appear busy. Location was on the outskirts of town in a sketchy industrial neighborhood with an “Adult” store a block away. The planters out front held plastic flowers. The room was small and institutional. The shade was ripped and most of the charging outlets didn’t work. The towels were thin, such as are used to wash a car. The towel rack fell out. I gave two stars because the room seemed clean and breakfast was acceptable. I’ve been a Rewards Club member for over 20 years and stayed in Holiday Inn Express hotels for months at a time when working out of town. The experience used to feel safe, cozy and welcoming. This was anything but. I almost never write negative reviews but this was a humiliating experience and I hope to spare others such a miserable end to a mostly fun vacation. Suggest you stay elsewhere.

The location was good, the rooms are spacious and clean, The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was okay.
