Derby Mickleover Hotel, BW Signature Collection

We checked in shortly after 8pm and were greeted by Zakira, who was friendly, welcoming and informative throughout. I had followed signage for the parking stating “Pay on Arrival”, so it was a little confusing to then be asked to enter my details again at check-in. As a refund couldn’t be offered, we were instead given two complimentary drinks, which was a great gesture of goodwill and more than fair for the inconvenience. The room itself was an 'Executive Double' (101) and provided a spacious, clean and comfortable environment for a good night’s sleep. We found the additional pillows in the wardrobe a great comfort. At breakfast we were again greeted by friendly staff, with the self-service options clearly explained. After enjoying a toasted bagel with Marmite (delicious!), we moved on to the cooked breakfast. Honest feedback from someone who works in the industry: overall it was good, although a couple of the sausages seemed as though they may have been reheated from the previous day, and the hash browns had perhaps been sitting out a little too long. That said, the overall selection — from cooked breakfast and continental options to yoghurts and pastries — was extensive and definitely enough to set you up for the day. Unfortunately our plans on the Tuesday meant we didn’t get chance to make use of the leisure facilities, but the pool looked inviting and wasn’t overly busy during our brief look around. Overall, the atmosphere throughout the hotel felt relaxed yet professional, with plenty of spacious areas to unwind outside of the room. I'm not a particular fan of football but the surrounding décor made for interesting memorabilia to those who I'm sure appreciate the history. Thank you to all the team members we interacted with during our stay — I’d definitely keep this hotel in mind if I found myself back in the area again.

Only slight downside was that the room felt a little too warm and the air conditioning didn’t seem to make much difference. As such, we ended up sleeping with the balcony doors open. There was some background noise around 7am when glass bottles were being emptied, although as an early riser it wasn’t really an issue for me.

Bar staff was incredibly friendly, restaurant staff great and reception was helpful.

Sports bar was none existent

Could better with service put down room service they had push leaflet through door to say didn’t have time service my room when came back no fresh towel caught reception in the hallway she took me to our hotel then walk back the hall is rather long way walk when have bad joints I didn’t speak manager when I was leaving coincidences thing it was speak wall

Friendly staff, lovely food, great location, relaxed atmosphere and comfy beds.

Hotel was unique, breakfast very good, staff in restaurant were excellent. Small issue with dirty towel. Most of reception staff were good with one exception.All in all a good stay

Checking in receptionist wasn't overly friendly, but other were good, check out receptionist was really friendly and professional
