QHAPAQ Lago Titicaca - Perú

This is such a unique stay right on Lake Titicaca. Anyone visiting this area should treat themselves to a stay on one of the floating islands. Our stay here, with Willie and his lovely family was fantastic. We stayed in one of the two rooms he built on his island. The room is large and all sides are windows so you can look out on the lake from anywhere. The bed is big and so comfortable with many warm blankets. We visited in rainy season and while we did get rain, we also got a fair bit of sun as well. The room is warm in the day but gets quite cold at night (January) but there is a propane heater that works well. The electricity and hot water are solar powered and even though there was rain, we always had hot water. This is an all inclusive so breakfast, lunch and dinner were included. Willie's wive is an amazing cook and we enjoyed every meal and they were generous portions. Willie took us out on the lake twice, once for a demo of how the floating islands are built and once to tour the various islands. This really is a wonderful way to spend a day or 2 on the lake. We highly recommend choosing this property.

Nothing that we didn't like. Just be aware that like I said, it gets cold when night falls so just be prepared for that with the right clothes.

The room was very lovely with beautiful carpets and pictures. Franco is an excellent guide who speaks good English and other 4 languages, and well arranged activities according to our time and the changeable weather. I learnt a lot about bird knowledge, the lovely community, and how the floating islands and boats were built. Franco’s wife made really delicious food for us, all the materials were fresh and the fruits were so sweet. When the heater didn’t work, Franco and his wife sent a new one to our room in the stormy night and brought warmth to my heart. Highly recommend!

Hernan and his wife Sara made it an unforgettable experience. Their hospitality truly made our visit special. The island itself offered a unique blend of comfort and cultural immersion. The island's tranquil atmosphere is perfect for relaxation, and the stunning views of Lake Titicaca at sunrise are breathtaking. Hernan offer us a private guided tour of the islands, where we learned about the fascinating lifestyle and customs of the Uros people and explained to us how the islands are built. The food was another highlight—freshly prepared bread for breakfast and other local dishes that provided a taste of the region's culinary heritage. Overall, my stay on Uros Island was a perfect mix of adventure and serenity, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the beauty and culture of Peru. Depending on the season, the weather can be quite cold, but the accommodations come with a heater in the room, hot water and very warm blankets! The local community is accustomed to the colder temperatures, so it’s important to communicate your needs to them. They are very accommodating and will ensure you have a comfortable stay.

What I didn’t like about the property? Nothing at all. When traveling to places like this, you should go with an adaptable mindset because you’ll learn so much from the experience.

This property is a paradise! We loved it so much! The bathroom is simple, there is only cold water at the sink, but there is hot water at the shower! In the evening it is painful to shower because of the cold, but in the morning when the sun shines into the bath, it is not cold at all. The room has a gas heater which makes it very warm, and the blanket is thick, so if you don't shower in the evening, you won't feel cold. Franco is a very good and kind host! It is a great experience to just sit on the terrace in the sun and listen to the noise of the animal world. Very relaxing. We also loved the boat tour, you won't meet dozens of tourists during it, but the program is just for you. Great!

We really missed fresh vegetables for breakfast, but other than that, the meal was very good.

Willy and his lovely family bent over backwards to accommodate us and make our short time in the lake one of the highlights of our trip. The breathtaking view and the explanations about Uros culture will remain a treasured memory for us.

Staying on an Uros floating island on Titicaca lake is an unique experience but what differentiate this property from the others is Franco and his little family!! Franco is super responsive on questions before arrival and during the stay he is a great host. Offering nice activities like kayaking, boat trips to the Uros community and also a sailing on a traditional raft. That was a wonderful opportunity to discover much more on how the Uros community lives, how they build, and maintain the floating island (as it requires monthly loading of new reeds). His wife is taking care of the food (I had a nice breakfast) but they propose also lunch and dinner. I can only recommend and you will have a great experience.

Of all the maybe more then 100 hotels I’ve stayed in over the years using booking, this was by far the most spectacular experience. Franco and his wife were extremely careful, nice and knowledgeable about their Uros culture. The house is like the most luxurious honeymoonsuite and the location is absolutely stunning. Do yourself a favor and go there

It was cold and the heating system in the room is not meant to run the whole night ( gas heater) The water was very hot but not enough pressure for a shower so we had to go for a bath.
