SureStay Hotel by Best Western Manchester

The location was convenient to the Field of Dreams and Manchester has some nice restaurants. Several stores and restaurants were in walking distance.

The property needs some TLC. The towel rack in the bathroom was falling off the wall(although there was another rack with towels over the separate sink area). There was a microwave but no fridge. The breakfast area was small, uninviting, and had minimal offerings. We didn’t partake.

Our host at check-in was helpful and attentive. He saw we were seniors so changed us from 2nd floor to first. The bed was a bit soft and high off the floor (I'm 6'1").

There was a throw rug covering a 22"x12" piece of tile on the floor at the foot end of the floor. Was brought to our attention by host when we went in. I said it was acceptable as I instructed my wife to sleep on entrance side so as not to trip at nighttime use of restroom. Food, drinks and tables and chairs were very good.

The rooms are not clean- the carpet had my feet black, maintenance -needs work. The air conditioner I believe has mold because every time I turned it on I was having severe allergies and wheezing. The mattress in both rooms very uncomfortable. Breakfast needs alot of work. I chose not to eat at the hotel. Wifi not working, tv wasn’t working. A wire was on the toilet to flush it in one of the rooms. Overall- the manager is always nice when I stay there but the owner really needs to get a renovation done. It’s a shame how run down it’s become after staying there off/on for the last 10 yrs. To the owner- DO BETTER.

When we got into our room there was a caution sign on the floor we moved it and later stepped in that spot and it sunk it appears there is a hole under the carpet that we were not told about. Under the bathroom sink was still dirty there was a piece of garbage underneath. Also while in the bathroom the tiles were falling off the side of the tub and when standing in the tub it felt like you were going to fall through the floor. You could tell underneath was not solid at all. Also there was dirty grills outside on the sidewalk and garbage out back. Also while parking we saw there is broken windows on a room. Also the AC was set as low it goes and it didn’t work at all it barely ran it was sooo hot in our room.

The property overall is clean- a couple spots in common areas that could use a vacuum but rooms were clean. The staff were very kind. There is a grocery store and restaurant within walking distance.

Our first room had a hole covered by mats at the end of the bed to walk over and smelled so bad of musty mildew that we asked for different room after the first night. The different room was upstairs and an improvement over the first but the door drug so bad on the tile floor that it was a real struggle to go in or out of the room.
