Hotel Canton

Stayed for four days in Hotel Canton , will mention the positives first and then the inconveniences faced during my stay. Location -Biggest plus is its proximity to a vibrant neighborhood of Beijing Lu, a shopping district frequented by young and old alike.Your evenings after a busy business day are sorted as the street is at 3 min walking distance from the hotel. Safety - Could not open my room locker with important stuff inside and was impressed with the way issue was tackled . Nice. WiFi - Room had a very good free and hassle free WiFi connection with excellent speed.A big plus. Check in - I reached at 10.30 am and though I understand the hotel policy of check in time being at 2 pm , I have been treated better at other hotels in China. We had to keep our luggage and roam around the area to pass time in a tired state only to come back and denied again. I had to literally appeal to them to let us check in because they had no place in the lobby for weary guests to sit and wait for their turn. Imagine my plight when I had to explain that much to staff who had no working knowledge of English. All thanks to my phone translator app ,my appeal was heard by one kind young girl and I was let in . Check out- Had to leave very early in the morning and from our experience with the non English speaking staff, we called and informed the reception a night before. We called up reception in the morning only to be greeted by staff who again did not understand what we wanted .Went down with our luggage and found out that there was no concierge, no bell boy ,only lone receptionist on the job. We were earlier told by the staff that they did not call for taxis for guests. This was strange because I have extensively travelled in China and calling for a taxi is a basic service that is provided by any good hotel in China.Had to come out of the hotel to hail one every time we had to go out. Room -Decent sized.Clean, good bed and bath linen. Room reeked of smoking fumes even though it said no smoking zone.Staff was non chalant about it. Kettle and green tea provided.A big minus here for regular tea and coffee drinkers.Nothing provided-no tea, coffee,sugar or creamer. Housekeeping was prompt in providing with an iron and board though. Breakfast was good .Loved the spread even though I am a vegetarian. Not too comfortable in sharing table with other guests though.No other option available there. Shuttle to Canton Fair- NO shuttle, free or otherwise provided by the hotel .Staff acted surprised when I asked .I had read one of the reviews and expected that they do. To sum it up, will think twice before coming back to this property.

Our group of five stayed at Hotel Canton from 27 to 28 March and again from 3 to 5 April 2018. We find the hotel very clean with friendly staff. The location at Beijing Road is excellent for great shopping and a good variety of authentic local food which we enjoyed daily during our stay there. We strongly recommend this hotel for family stay but it is usually fully booked due to its popularity and excellent review.

We stayed at hotel canton in march after our trip to guilin. It is located at the end of Beijing road making it a strategic location for shopping and restaurants. The room is clean but smelt of cigarettes. Complained to the cleaner but she said she can't do anything much. Breakfast is not really good. Although there are western option, the choices are not really good. Didn't enjoyed the breakfast. Had to share table. Metro is about 15-20 minutes walk away As for check-in , there are only two receptions processing the checkin. Hence it us slowed. I arrived aroind 11.30 but were asked to come back at 2pm. I can left my luggages at the concierge. Most hotels usually allow check-in at 12pm or earlier in china but not this one. Very disappointing. Swimming pool is good. Don't think I will stay here again as there are better choices. See my other Guangzhou hotel reviews.

I got tow two very small uncomfortable bedrooms ☹️

Quite an old hotel but location is just perfect. Within walking distance to the Beijing road shopping district. Breakfast is served in the conference room with banquet table. Need to share table and food choices are limited.

Big bed. comfortable fitting. Breakfast is not the best and is held in conference room. Hotel location is perfect for shopping and business administration.

Reached hotel at 3pm, rooms not ready to clean up yet (1 hour waiting) and just 2 staffs help to checkin , the manager just walk and see his staff serve guests.

Lobby could be very crowded at certain specific seasons, and could be quite messy. However, the hotel is strategically located, with nearby Pearl River, a Park, and of course the Beijing Lu. One of the The RED sightseeing bus stops is just opposite the hotel, and you could just hop in (and pay) if you have limited time in Guangzhou. Overall a convenient hotel.

Efficient check in ...........nice room .........easy get to all the places we wanted to go .......very easy to get a taxi to the train station next day ...BUT .....there was no fridge (it was a locked minibar and we were not given a key) .....and the Free internet did not connect.

The experience was good, however I don’t think I will repeat it since it’s a long way from Canton fair, 45 minutes to go and almost an hour to come back. It is good that the hotel provides the free shuttles to Canton. The hotel staff do not speak much English
