La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, Mallorca

La Residencia perfectly captures Deia’s charm—peaceful, artistic, and beautifully in tune with its surroundings. The staff were outstanding, consistently warm and professional, making our stay feel personal. Our room was stylish and comfortable, and breakfast was excellent, though its proximity to the dining area meant some early noise in our room. Lunch was pleasant but overpriced for small portions. The bar felt overpriced. The spa was relaxing but could use upgrades, particularly the steam room which didn’t work properly. Sauna was small. The massage was poor and one of the worst I’ve had in such a much calibre establishment. Overall, a five-star experience thanks to the setting, staff, and atmosphere. With a few tweaks, it could be truly exceptional but in our view didn’t quite match the world class reputation of the hotel.

We enjoyed a fantastic short break at La Residencia. The hotel and its grounds are stunning, set right in the heart of beautiful Deia, but a peaceful haven away from visitors. We really enjoyed the wonderful walking route from Deia to Soller which starts at the hotel gates - incredible coastal and mountain views. All of the staff are kind, attentive and super efficient so we enjoyed excellent service throughout. Our two meals at Miro and El Olivo were delicious and the breakfast setting and choices are great too. We stayed in the Robert Graves Villa (a short walk from the hotel grounds) which has amazing mountain and sea views and a lovely pool, was fully stocked with fantastic food and drink gave the four of us lots of space in which to. Highly recommended.

We came again to La Residencia (our absolute favourite place on the island) this time especially for "Art of Flavours". We had an amazing experience ! The setting was magical, the food the best of the best from different chefs of the Belmond group but also from the island and Spain. It was a true pleasure and we hope to be back next year!

Not a True Five-Star Hotel – Beautiful Setting, Poor Experience I’ve traveled all over Europe and Asia, staying in many true five-star hotels, and this is not one of them. It’s also not suitable for elderly or mobility-impaired guests. We were in Room 46, directly over the breakfast area—very loud and smoky. Staff said the smell came from burning something to deter bees. They offered to move us, but my friend uses a cane. I’m 55, extremely fit, and stairs don’t bother me, yet the setup still felt inconsiderate and outdated. The windows didn’t seal, the air purifier was filthy, and the water pressure too weak to rinse my hair. “Eco-friendly” shouldn’t mean nonfunctional—these rooms feel 20 years behind in tech and comfort. The spa is coed, which is fine in theory, but when I tried to use the sauna, a man was sitting there completely naked with everything on display. No staff, no signage, and no one to report it to, so I left. I’m not a prude, but that’s not how a coed spa should work—nudity should be limited to single-sex saunas. It left me wondering if staff training or guest guidance simply isn’t a priority here. A beautiful location can’t hide poor design, bad wiring, and weak service. The whole experience felt like “The Emperor’s New Clothes.”

Pros: Excellent location if you want to explore the northwest towns of Deia, Valldemossa, and Soller; tucked in the beautiful Tramuntana mountain range. Stunning property/grounds--like out of a fairy tale. Very friendly and courteous staff (special shoutout to Joanna & Sylvie in the front desk, Clara & Eva in El Olivo restaurant, and Toni, F&B director). Spacious bedroom: comfortable bed and pillows, 2 independent sink areas in the bathroom, plus shower and a bathtub, nice bath products, impeccable cleanliness, great A/C temperature, and a heated plunge pool. Outstanding food--particularly at El Olivo restaurant, but also the breakfast buffet and a-la-carte options. A plethora of incredible activities and amenities available. Complimentary valet parking.

Cons: Not having had allotted enough time to enjoy a full leisurely day to enjoy all of the hotel amenities (e.g., the pools, the spa, the tennis courts, the shuttle to Cala Deia).

The setting is idyllic. The property has beautiful architecture and classic/antique masonry. Feels like you’re in a renovated Spanish castle. The pool has picturesque views of the mountain range. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The service and attention to detail is elite. You feel worshiped upon. We happened to go during two food events with Michelin star chefs. The quality and variety of food at the event was unbelievable.

This hotel is incredible one of, if not THE best I’ve ever stayed in. From the moment you arrive you immediately relax in the stunning gardens. the incredible staff ensure you have everything you could possibly need. The food is outstanding and the service is professional yet friendly. Highly recommend this hotel, you will leave feeling fully relaxed, rejuvenated and revived. (And planning your return!)

The resort was beyond our expectations. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Huge breakfast buffet daily, and hot entrees offered. All excellent.
